Maybe it is just a UK rule - different organisers.

I didn't see the LCD. How much was it going for? I almost snagged the Joy Division, but then I realized that I don't love any of those songs as much as I love Crumblin 'erb or Spirit in the Sky.

When I saw how long the line was when I got to Zia at around 7:45, I thought I was screwed getting anything I wanted. Ended up getting everything I wanted except for Joy Division and the other two Crosses releases. Picked up Crosses (two, no luck finding one or three), Conor Oberst/Dawes, Banks, Civil Wars and Bruce Springsteen.

    7/27-Bleeding Through (Pub Rock)
    8/1-3-Lollapalooza
    8/1-Disclosure (Aragon Ballroom)

    9/19-Eric Prydz (The Pressroom)
    10/1-The Gaslight Anthem (Marquee Theatre)
    10/10-12-Austin City Limits Weekend 2

I caved and went into amoeba as I was passing by and they actually had a copy of the Bis album. Two, in fact. Then i noticed the Pink Panther reissue is actually on pink vinyl and couldn't resist. And decided to pick up the Clint Mansell soundtrack.

    I am so weak.

If anyone either bought or sees an extra copy of Dunedin Double, I'd gladly buy it from you.

So bummed. Got in line at amoeba at 12 and had to leave at 2 to cover something. Someone in line said they'd grab me school of seven bells and banks, which they still had, but by 3 they had finally sold out.

Next year I am doing amoeba super early. Everyone gives them all the rarest stuff and half the people just want mgmt and green day.

LA people should seriously consider taking short trips for RSD. I was in Bakersfield the week prior last year, and there was a store that told me they order tons of stuff and it lasts for about a week. LA/Long Beach/OC are so populated it's hard to find the great stuff, but hitting a place in Boise was so much easier. There was still a line, but they had a great selection and even the people working there weren't familiar with three of the four records I wanted (they all knew Outkast.)

I also picked up the garbage single, which turns out is the best thing they've done in a while. the only thing I wanted but didn't get a hold of was the Oasis single. I'm hoping that will be as prevelant as the Pulp single was last year.

also, the Clint Mansell vinyl is fucking gorgeous.

Walking up to Origami this morning and the De La Soul/Dilla folks were absolutely rabid, most had been there since 8-9pm the night before. Does anyone know what time people were lining up at Amoeba?

People in front of us at Amoeba were in line at 11pm. They mentioned the people at the front of the line were there between 6pm & 9pm.

When I get home I'll post a photo, but it's pretty bare bones packaging. Just the outer sleeve, a generic inner and a one-sided insert. Can't wait to hear it though.

Picked up the Tears For Fears 10" at Coachella yesterday... They didn't have a huge selection of titles, but that was the main one that I wanted anyway...

Bullmoose.com has a bunch of RSD titles on sale, with free shipping on order $25+. I picked up From Here We Go Sublime, which was the one release I really hoped to find online for a fair price.

Factory? It really packs a punch for its tiny size.

I knew when I saw that The Man in the Blue Turban With A Face was being issued on vinyl for the first time that I had to buy it: it was one of those endlessly-played records I found in college and, though I'd not listened to it in years, it was definitely one I had to own. I just put on my copy and was reminded why I listened to this so much: the songs are fantastic. I love Man Man, they've put out some spectacular albums and they continue to be incredible live, but I'll be damned if the first album isn't their best release. There's just such an excellent blend of Waits/Beefheart oddball music and New Orleans jazz centering these catchy laments. They've stripped back now to a certain extent instrumentally, but any of these tracks stripped to piano and vocals would destroy the best of the last two records. The pressing sounds great, these songs are spectacular, so if you can find a halfway reasonable deal by all means buy this record. You will absolutely not regret it. Play Zebra on repeat.
