Turns out it was a Waters/Gilmour argument. http://www.coachella.com/forum/showt...451#post428451

I made no claim that it is crowded everywhere all the time.

It's also not nearly as crowded as some of you want to believe.

10/11 - Carolina Chocolate Drops @ Rialto Theater (Tucson, AZ)
11/10 - The Black Keys @ US Airways Center (Phoenix, AZ)

By the middle of the set, yes, but it was virtually empty 10 minutes before the show started. Part of that was because the Audio Bullys had been on prior, but like york707 said, there wasn't that huge a buzz for Daft Punk before their show.

I think I started posting in 2005 since 2006 was the first year I went. I still lurk daily but I don't have a job where I sit in front of a computer all day without anything productive to do.

I didn't go last year, but in 2011 and 2012 I noticed quite a bit more people between stages making it harder to move around than in the 2004-2008 days. 2009 I can't quite recall and 2010 was, as we've noted, an aberration, but that's where I noted not only an increase in crowds, but also the change in the crowd towards a more annoying, less aware group of young Los Angeles jackass folks there for "Coachella" as an experience rather than for a music festival.

Also empirical, but my dad and I both saw a drop off in 2009 and 2010 of friendly, music obsessed people who were willing to chat about bands between sets and who weren't jackassses trying to push to the front with their friends as they yelled at the top of their lungs.

Nothing about her, actually, but I would muse a lot about college friends and which ones I thought I had a chance with fucking and which ones I would "settle" for if I couldn't be with the one I really wanted, etc. And I also went on a lot of insane rants about things like killing some guy I'd worked with on a movie and burning his trailer with his girlfriend and her kids inside. Incidentally, I was taking anti-depressants at the time and my behavior was a lot more erratic then than it has been the past 6 years during which I haven't been really taking anything.

Uh, bullshit. The tent was empty for Audio Bullys, true, and my friend and I went to the main stage for a bit but when we returned, which was right after AB's set had finished, it started filling up. I'd wanted to get closer to the rail for the pit they had that year but it was too packed for me to do so. I settled for being about halfway between the sound board and the left (Mojave-facing) "wall" and was about halfway between the stage and the sound board. They were late and every time I looked back after their start time had passed, I could see people as far back as my height allowed me a view. My other friends started off at She Wants Revenge (like Randy!) and went over to the Sahara midway through the set, they said, and couldn't get inside.

Of course there wasn't as huge a buzz about Daft Punk before Coachella as there would have been afterward or especially now, but there was a big enough buzz. I was on the fence about attending that year until I saw them on the lineup. I was hoping that there wouldn't be that huge of a crowd for them so I could get a better spot, that the people who said the Coachella board members who were anticipating the performance weren't representative of the greater Coachella crowd, but I don't think those naysayers were ultimately correct.

I'm going to guess this was actually '07, since I met Shakermaker, RagePatton, C.R., Somewhat Damaged, and you there for the first time and '06 was like Tom Petty headlining or something like that.

I went to Coachella in 06, 07, 08. Missed 09 due to my daughter coming, missed 10 due to preferring to go to Sasquatch, have had declining interest in going ever since though 13 looked appealing.

It would seem there are less people going for the music and more for the scene. Hope I'm wrong.

In 2011, I didn't watch a set that was uncomfortably packed. Not one. In 2012, the only packed sets I witnessed were Justice - ATDI - Dre and Snoop. Last year, I can't recall a single set where I said to myself, "Holy Shit this crowd is huge" with the exception being Wu-Tang.
This is a complete and utter lie.

for shits and giggles I found the old board and dug up some interesting details. turns out it was founded Mar 26 03 11:35 PM. I made my account 01/21/06. my first post was the next day about the coachella film. it's weird to look back.

even more weird, there were some posts in 2012 in the thread about moving to the new board. http://goldenvoice.yuku.com/

I'll suppose hers says the same as yours: 2007. Only way to know for sure is to dig up the old board.

I have no idea what my password was and I know I was only on the old board for a very short time, so it must have been soon after the festival in '06.
