Agreed. He's the original Coachella headliner and showed why. Was that his son playing on stage?

Yup, that was his son. Looks like he picked up some dance moves from his dad. Definitely one of the best moments of the weekend.

Amazing amazing set. Was a little nervous because a lot of people on here we're saying that he doesn't deliver, but I'm glad I didn't listen to any of those clowns.

Was on the rail right behind the main pit section so I had a pretty amazing view of everything. Loved how he incorporated his newer songs with everything else. Can't wait to get in his Hyundai again soon!!

what you saw is basically the golden age lineup for beck. those were the guys he was working with for odelay, mutations, midnight vultures, and most were on sea change as well. pretty sure i've seen beck live more than just any other artist (last night was somewhere in the high teens/low twenties) and no lineup he's had can bring it like those guys can. just an amazing group of musicians.

He mentioned he played in 1999 and that night in 2014. He did not mention that he played acoustic in one of the tents in 2004.

    Whiskey Sour

    2 oz blended whiskey
    Juice of 1/2 lemon
    1/2 tsp powdered sugar
    1 cherry
    1/2 slice lemon

Shake blended whiskey, juice of lemon, and powdered sugar with ice and strain into a whiskey sour glass. Decorate with the half-slice of lemon, top with the cherry, and serve.

My only complaint was he didn't play the complete version of "Debra". Had he played it in full this probably would've been my number one set of the weekend. Fucking great setlist. It'd been far too long since I'd seen Beck and this did not disappoint. Perfect crowd size, as well. Plenty of room to boogie.

    Honestly.

    That was probably me.

I was getting down TOO hard during his set. One of the best of the whole weekend. 1000000 times better than his OSL set. Straight magical.

what they did to him was beyond fucking disrespectful and right after he tells the story of playing the first coachella 15 years ago. They couldnt have turned the mic on for 5 minutes so he could say goodbye? Seeing my all time favorite artist being treated like shit felt like such a slap in my face. FUCK YOU coachella

Beck and Arcade Fire back to back two of my top five of the whole weekend. Fantastic sets! Real crappy the cut them both off and didn't let them finish. Didn't stop either of them for trying to keep it going.

What happened to him at the end was Grade A Bullshit, but the set was still killer. There's always 10-15 minutes of downtime between when sound check finishes and the next band goes on anyway, they couldn't have used 2 of those minutes to let him finish his song and say goodbye? Disrespectful in the extreme to any artist, much less one who fucking headlined the first year of the festival.

The same festival that has Beck as the only artist on the cover of their DVD.

Maybe Tollett personally apologized to Beck in private. It may have been a mistake that he was cut off.

i get what you guys are saying, but if you didn't notice there is a HUGE clock stage left that shows exactly how much time they have left in their set. they should have sped things up a bit when they saw they were a bit behind, maybe not spend so much time driving the hyundai through various towns. anyway it's not like it was a surprise that the sound guys would cut them off. for quite a while now coachella has been very strict about going over set times because with that many bands it really starts to add up quick and in the end it fucks over the headliner who i believe has to foot the bill if they play over the noise curfew. yea, i think they should have turned his mic on for just a few seconds at the end but they didn't, it happens. the group shuffle off stage was a pretty funny way for them to handle it though, classic beck.

and sorry if it ruins the magic for some of you but arcade fire going over was totally planned out imo. they WANTED to get cut off so they could do their parade thing and sing along to try and create another epic coachella moment. while there are still plenty of spontaneous and natural magic moments going on over the weekend, i don't believe this was one of them. i'm not sure that it really makes a difference in the end anyway.

From the first note, I knew we were in for a treat. I have seen Beck a fuck load of times, going back to the early nineties, so I have seen all of his versions. His first two songs were slugish, which concerned me. He was having some timing issues, most likely from lack of practice. He warmed up after that, and low and behold, the Beck of old was resurrected. What a treat! The set list was incredible! When he broke out Debra, you could have knocked me over with a feather! It was perfect! So what they shut it down; we all know the rules. What I thought was cool was that no one moved. We watched him shuffle off the stage, mesmerized by the experience.
    Beck forever!

Beck was one of the more pleasant surprises of the weekend. I had low expectations via the board naysayers and only being a casual fan, but I enjoyed every minute of his set.

Beck knew they were going to cut him off. He mentioned the count down before he went into his '99 Coachella story. He was obviously dragging it out to see how long he could get away with it.

I loved every bit of it.
