New album is groovy. Not super up beat but enough to get you swaying.

Man, I wish the rest of this album was anywhere close to being as good as the first track.

I enjoyed the new album and I really disliked the first one. Highly doubt I will see them though, since Friday is so stacked.

They're the guest on today's Nerdist podcast... and there's an exclusive performance of "Holding On To Life"

It's the first two tracks for me. The rest of the album is alright, but a letdown after those first two knock it out of the park.

For me, the first 4 tracks on the album are a grand slam, then my interest fades, at least from hearing the previews thus far.

I like the album. I don't love it but I like it. I am a sucker for James Mercer's melodies and especially this BeeGees thing he's got going on these days.

However, that performance of After the Disco up there (from Kimmel) is so goofy I can't take it! James looks like he has no idea how to be a frontman who doesn't hold an instrument.

I'm seeing them in two days and hoping they play long enough to fit all tracks from both albums

Yeah, I also dig the Bee Gees influence on the first single. I was honestly expecting the rest of the album to have a similar vibe to the first two tracks, but it turned out completely different. Nonetheless, it was a good album in my opinion. Excited to see their set on Friday.

That is pretty delicious right there.

I really don't know why people are so underwhelmed with their new album. It's a fantastic concept album and each tune is amazing in its own rite.

I agree a lot of the reviews seem unimpressed by it but I think their reviews are fair. Most of them say it's safe or average, I think that's fair considering they don't seem to take a lot of risks here. What I really like about it is the groove of it, and how it feels much more cohesive than their previous album.

I mean, sure it's not very "risky". But this new album captures elements and sounds of the 60's, 70's, 80's, even 90's. I think their sound would translate perfectly to a night time Outdoor slot, before OutKast on the Main

Yeah, I agree with you. I just hope James Mercer lets go of some of that awkwardness and gets down a little!

I am obsessed with Perfect World. The new album doesn't seem to be on Spotify though, the tracks I thought were the best are all on there as singles though.

The first four tracks are absolutely awesome. Perfect World especially is fantastic. I wasn't too high on the rest of the album though. It was okay, it just wasn't anything spectacular.

Last night was pretty great. Their live show is much improved from the past tour.
I usually don't record videos at concerts, but I got two songs from their encore

How long was their set? And did they play more from either their first or second album, or more split down the middle?

I just hope they're allotted more than 50 minutes at Coachella this year, so they can do a decent mix of both albums

If I remember correctly, they used to do an extended version of "The Mall and Misery" on their last tour, which was pretty sweet. Hopefully we get to see something similar at the Polo fields this year.

Glad they're still playing so much of the debut, but no Mongrel Heart? That was one of the best songs on it.
EDIT: Durr...just realized "The Waiting Game" IS Mongrel Heart
