partnering with ticketfly is an interesting move. I like ticketfly for standard events. it'll be interesting to see how this goes.

Finally, this is the year the wife and I make the trip. Super pumped. Thought about the $650 tickets for a little just to make sure we get to go. But then I went over that number in my head for a little bit and decided that that was a stupid idea.

I don't know who buys those. I'm surprised they continue to offer those.

Although $650 does seem steep, the people who Usually buy them are people who are part of established theme camps, such as playa surfers, district and any other large camp. Purchasing these expensive tickets help offer low income tickets weren't able to afford tickets to burning man.

Time to start planning, buy rei gear so you can swap it out after the playa

Not quite. People in established camps get to buy via the directed group sale (though each camp's allotment is limited).

The pre-sale is usually a pre-christmas thing for one percenters who want tickets for holiday gifts. I figure it got delayed because they needed more time for the ticketfly implementation.

The best way to avoid the pains of next year's ticket sales: volunteer for the event! Pre-event is a beautiful time to be on the playa and you'll meet some amazing folks. Use your google, check out the different departments and figure out which offer free access to 2015 in exchange for your blood and sweat.

Got my tix on Wed through the directed sale. Going to be Burning Man #6 for me. Last year started going w/ AutoSub out of Boston. We're right on the Esplanade, have a big dome where we do aerial silk acrobat performances lessons, observation netting up near the top that's great for sunrises and sunsets, parties at night (including the all-nighter Bootie mashup marathon), a bunch of fun happy hours, etc. We *had* a slide from the top of the dome to the playa last year, until someone catastrophically broke it, that's probably not coming back for fear of actually killing someone this time around!

This year i'll be running the Horrible Liquor Happy Hour (complete with Malort, terrifying scorpion hooch, etc), and bring my Human Connection Synthesizer (basically a little thing that hooks into a computer where 4 "ground" people can touch 12 "key" people to trigger drum and keyboard loops). Can't wait!

perhaps you forget how many too rich to care folks there are out there.
I'll bet a share of them are purchased by tour package groups and plug-n-play camps like Playa School and such. Celebrities too.

large camps go nowhere near those tix (especially Distrikt). as mentioned, larger camps get an allotment of $380 tix. As a general rule the more money one has personally the less one is actually motivated to work and contribute as much as is required by a larger camp. (not to mention they don't have the time to work on the project/camp off playa)

Are the newbie orientations just pathetic or is there some type of value to them?
    Whiskey Sour

    2 oz blended whiskey
    Juice of 1/2 lemon
    1/2 tsp powdered sugar
    1 cherry
    1/2 slice lemon

Shake blended whiskey, juice of lemon, and powdered sugar with ice and strain into a whiskey sour glass. Decorate with the half-slice of lemon, top with the cherry, and serve.

The BM "scene" in l.a. gets tiresome pretty quickly... Still, if you want to make friends, hit up such events and be friendly. You'll likely meet some interesting folks.

Oh yeah - the OMG sale registration starts 7/31 if you're thinking about jumping on this train before it leaves the station. They're selling another 3K tickets. You may already be a winner.

If anyone can track down two tickets for me, they'd go to a very worthy cause--creating a Virtual Burning Man that would recreate all the art and theme camps present. Project is already 1/2 completed, we just need to actually get there to take the photos to wrap the art in so it comes out photo-realistic. I realize it sounds silly to have done all this work and not secured tickets, but frankly we've been completely broke ever since doing the Virtual Coachella project. Anyways, any help would be much appreciated.

Hit CL hard the week before people leave. That's when people start to sell them off en masse. I've never heard of anyone missing the event because of tickets. They've always been findable on the secondary market, but this year it seems more scarce.
