This lineup is so stupidly good. I just keep on thinking of bands and being like "Oh yeah, is Boris playing?" "Slint's on the lineup too, right?" It's so stacked I can't even remember all the bands.

Culver Hotel is really nice, but it's like $270/night on the low side.

That's about as far from the closest stop as you can get and still be in Culver City. Staying outside of DTLA is kind of pointless if you're not near a metro station. For what you'll spend on taxi/uber back and forth to the nearest stop each day you could have spent on a more convenient hotel.

4 miles on uber is less than a $10 ride.

Make sure to check out the Tattle Tale Room, which is about a mile north from the Sheraton, on Sepulveda. One of the best and weirdest dive bars in LA. Plus they do karaoke every night. Highly recommended.

I Pricelined a damn good deal, got the Westin Bonaventure. 4 miles away, probably take the Metro in and get there/back ~25 min each way, methinks. How late does this fest usually go, hopefully the Metro's still running afterwards. And what exactly is DASH? Google tells me it's also an option to get there and back, but I've never heard of that before - is it reliable busing?

    The Bonaventure is really nice!

DASH is a bus system. What you are going to do is get on the Metro Expo Line line, which is a light rail train, at the 7th/Metro stop, which is located 3 blocks away at 7th and Flower. The ride from that stop to exposition park is like 5 minutes, I believe it is the 3rd or 4th stop. It costs $1.50 each way. The shopw goes until 12am. They run the trains after 2am on Fridays and Saturdays, but they usually run them late on Sunday during FYF and other big events as well.

Also, i'll be trying to organize some meet-ups for lunch/brunch each day in the vicinity of the 7th/metro stop.

Kickass, thanks for the info, man. All these times I've ever visited, I've always driven everywhere, so it will be nice to rely on this and not have to worry about the tragic reality of trying to park somewhere for the festival.

I'll keep my eyes peeled for any meetup info, I'd be down for whatever pre-gaming y'all can muster up.

I live downtown, so if you have any questions at all, shoot them to me! Since the show doesn't start until like 3pm, it'll be cool to try to get together with all the out of towners that get in on Friday night too.

The Expo doesn't go all the way to Union Station? Apparently, I am not too experienced with LA public transportation and thought that all the trains went to Union Station! Ok, so if I want to take public transportation from Highland Park, I would take gold line to little tokyo or union station ---> bus or walk ---> expo?

Correct, the blue line and expo line both connect at 7th/metro. This is unfortunately convoluted, but if you buy day passes it won't cost you extra - you'll go Gold Line to Union Station, then walk down the hall and transfer to Red Line Subway, take it 3 stops to 7th/Metro, then transfer to Expo Line.

One of the current Metro projects is working to fix this, the Regional Connector, which will connect the Gold Line directly to 7th/Metro and bypassing Union Station.

I spent a night at the Bonaventure last month. It was awesome. Its like a small city in that hotel and the elevators are a blast. Ask for a high room when you get there and you might end up with an amazing view of the city.

Well there's free parking at the metro station and we'll have a car with us. Do you think that won't be an option?

    damnit this is confusing.

Drinkey, is the area around figueroa and 7th pretty accesible with the Metro? i cant seem to make sense of how the rail lines work.
Is it a pretty easy jump to Expo Park from there?

Yes, Figueroa and 7th street is pretty much exactly where the 7th/Metro stop is. You can get right on the Expo line from that stop and take it 4 stops to Expo park.

So many good local bands that would love to play for a small price. Is Fidlar on tour? They'd be cool.

Peach Kings would be excellent too and they're always around doing small local shows

Are you insinuating that they haven't canceled their dates? Fun Fun Fun Fest has already issued a statement about finding a replacement and Trent Reznor made a statement on twitter last night as well. They are not playing.

Note that they are still listed as being on the line-up...which means either the festival organizers are getting their fourth-of-July libations on early, or some negotiations of some kind are occurring. I'm not necessarily holding my breath on this one, but you really just never know with those guys.

Tell Trent Reznor that. And Fyf, FFF and Pitchfork Festival. I think they all decided to move on. You should too.

Edit: FYF is asking who the fans want to fill in for Death Grips. Oh wait, some douche will probably say Death Grips.
