My most painful conflict is Earl vs. Darkside. Probably gonna go with Earl.

Also gonna most likely miss Slowdive in order to see Run The Jewels --> Caribou. Oh well.

Mount Kimbie canceling might be worse than any conflict, though. I was really looking forward to seeing them for the first time.

to each their own, but Darkside puts on a killer show live. I saw Earl at 'chella 13 and it was underwhelming to say the least, though I'm sure he's gotten better since then.

Just came back from Future Islands show and it was awesome. I'm sorry if you have to choose between them and Terje.

I agree with Agonz, really reconsider your choice. Darkside is amazing live, and they're going on an indefinite hiatus soon, so who knows when you can see them again!

Oh man, now this will make my weekend. Along with an appropriate 60 minute set.

And the last two time theyve been at FYF Fest they have come on early and gotten off even earlier. I just dont expect them to even play their 40 min set, its just not their thing.
honestly im probably gonna watch Joyce Manor and leave a little early for the last 15 of Slint, or even more Slint if JM finishes early. they have a 40 minute set but at their headlining set at the El Rey they only played 30 minutes.

I'm not going to bitch about conflicts, though there are a bunch. But what I *will* bitch about is the lack of information on the VIP "areas". There's only one on the map, no VIP entrance shown, no further details on promised amenities, etc. I asked via Twitter and email last night, no response. No alarms and no surprises. Silence. Silence.

I just noticed on the map that there are two craft beer bars, not just one. Nice.

    ^ That is good news.

I also noticed that one of the vinyl vendors will be Light in the Attic, a very good re-issue label!

I am bummed it seems like there is no alcohol isn't the arena, but I do like that there is a craft beer bar directly in front of it. Especially since that is essentially the middle of the festival too.

There's going be barely any time for craft beer in comparison to Coachella, though.

oh, I know. I just saw Darkside at Coachella and they were one of my favorite sets of the weekend. I can't imagine their set at FYF will be much different, though. Earl will likely be doing lots of new material.

The start of Sunday will be a little chaotic for me, but other than that, I'm pleased with my itinerary.

I'm trying to to be flexible about my schedule save for a few must sees. Like Sunday; I'll be at either Mac Demarco or La Dispute depending on whatever mood I'm in.

Exactly. "I like Slint, but man, when's the next time this week I can see Joyce Manor in a large, outdoor setting?"

With the entrance being on the west side of everything, it's a little bit further walk from my hotel (Vagabond) than I originally calculated. Google says it's a 23-minute walk and given how much stage-hopping I plan to do, I'm thinking I'll take public transportation instead.

Can anyone tell me if I can get a TAP card at the Jefferson/USC station? The website says cards are available at "select Metro stations" but I can't find info on that one specifically. Is there any charge for the TAP card itself or just for the fares?

Depending on when I leave my hotel, it looks like the DASH Downtown could be the fastest option. Is that a bus? Is it really only 50 cents to ride?

Are TAP cards available at the Expo/Vermont station? I might need to get one there for the ride back to my hotel if I take the DASH on the way in.

As far as I know, all light-rail stations sell Tap cards. It's an automated process from the fare machine (like BART in the Bay Area). A Tap card is $1 and a one-way ride is $1.50.

DASH is a bus system that does loops around neighborhoods, and yes it is only $0.50. Not sure of the schedule on the weekend, but if that route goes by Expo and your hotel than that'll work too.

Yes, you can get a TAP card at the Jefferson/USC station. The DASH is great, won't be running after the show though, so Expo line is your best bet after the festival.

also i know you guys probably think Joyce Manor is just -cool- but I'd probably say that they're my favorite band in the world right now. people have different music opinions. also i'll still probably be able to catch ~20 minutes of Slint :--)
