So, where's everyone staying? Can't decide whether to be close at the Vagabond Inn, or do a cheap priceline rate at a nice DTLA hotel and metro ride in (would work out to be about the same price in the end).

Pretty depressed I'll be out of the country for this. FYF always hits it perfectly. Here's to hoping that Slowdive plays Coachella and The Strokes at Treasure Island.

I just booked a room at the Staples Center Inn. It was the cheapest closest one I could find.

What's capacity for the venue? I think this could easily sell out well in advance of August for once...

The indoor Sports arena has a ~ 16,000 capacity. I don't know about Expo Park.

No "strokefest" comment from GPS or kvnty yet. I would've bet the under at 4:00 for sure.

GPS has left the board until January in protest because he didn't get tickets. He seemingly doesn't understand what actually constitutes a protest, but there you have it. Kvnty will have to do all of the heavy dick joke lifting.

I don't think so. I booked a suite which sleeps 6, which ends up being much more affordable when split amongst everyone.

That area is usually filled with SC tailgaters on game days, which is a lot of people and RVs. The footprint is a little bigger than LASHP in terms of acreage, assuming they stay to the east of the Coliseum.

It's a completely different festival now, not really comparable. Given what one would pay for tickets to single shows for almost any of these bands, the price point is definitely worth it.

For those looking for a hotel and don't mind a walk to the metro or a quick cheap lyft ride, downtown culver city is also a nice option.

I didn't even think about Culver City. not a bad option at all. Lots of great places to get brunch/lunch and have a night cap when you get back at the end of the night too.

If youre counting the arena capacity and the space used outside, its maybe 30,000. Last year didnt sell out til each day pretty much.

So would you rather have the festival only being able to book the bottom 3. Lines at $20 a ticket?

If you want to be super frugal, there's a ton of cheap AirBNB options in the area.

It's an interesting area at night. I never felt particularly unsafe, but it can feel like you're in a different country. On weekends that whole neighborhood turns into an open air black market vendor mall. Zack visited my place a few times when I lived in that area, so he'll know a little about what to expect.

Neat! We were so zonked from all of the bagged whiskey last year that doing anything after the fest was just not a possibility. Having a fridge in our hotel this year to come back to cold beer is an upgrade. And brunch at Little Bear again is a must.
