Riot Fest used to be a "rock" fest, but look at it now. The National? How far from "riot" are they trying to become?

FYF will likely be at the L.A. Sports Arena, my sources are telling me.

Yeah I think those dates at The Wiltern in August kinda make it not possible.

Probably not the best place to ask such a general question, but once they finish the renovations to LA State Historic Park, will they open it back up to festivals? I'm guessing not. Everyone seemed to hate that place but I really liked it, especially when the other option is Sports Arena. Pretty sure last time I was there was Together As One 2004. Bleh.

I don't know about that. From the designs it seems like there won't be enough open field space for a multi-stage fest. I recall a mention of an amphitheater being installed as well, but didn't see that in the plans on the link below. Who knows though.

The Kooks are playing the Roxy in October, so they will not be at FYF either.

How would you say the crowd is different specifically. I somewhat agree on certain points, but there is a lot of overlap with regards to the crowd between the two festivals.

War on Drugs is playing a festival-heavy summary (a lot across the pond), but has a big gap that included FYF weekend.
I have been to concerts. I will go to concerts in the future.

If you look at the aerial it looks like there will still be plenty of open field space. Doesn't look like they're taking all that much space away from where they usually set up the stages.

Notice that I said it would be at the Sports Arena and Superfan did NOT dispute that, unlike the other guesses and speculation about where FYF 2014 will be. I am almost 100 percent my source is correct on the location, the Sports Arena it is!

I need to go to work in order to PAY for FYF. I do not have a trust fund.

So if true (still hoping against it), I guess headliners get the arena and there will be other stages set up around it...

really hope they don't intend to stick some of the acts indoors ... been a while since I was in the area but isn't there sufficient room around the coliseum for an exclusively outdoor fest of this size?

That was basically my question like 5 pages back, but you articulated it much better. Apparently, it's big enough to accommodate a large fest.

Anything will be better than that dumpy park they usually use. I'd be happy with the outside of the sports arena.

Exactly. This sounds like going to Warped Tour back in the day. Dangerous for crowd surfers!

"I know that when The Strokes tour again, it will be because we put something out - even though we didn't tour the last one. Doing a few festivals before you put something out is kind of gearing up the big machine, it just kind of helps everyone ge ready, mentally, financially and it brings you back to your audience. You can see the audience's reaction to your music and you just 'feel' again."

Hammond continued: " I'm looking forward to a smaller show more than a festival show. To me, festival shows are like a very rich dessert before the meal, but it's going to be awesome. I think it was just that Julian was trying to figure out his solo thing and I don't know when he's doing it, but we got this offer and we all agreed on it - but more importantly he agreed on it. He's the leader of the band, and we usually say yes to playing shows. I imagine that'll start something, it always does but it's just too soon. He's swamped with his solo stuff and I can't even begin to stress him out with like 'what are doing?' I know he's singing a song that we recorded and he's in the studio trying to do something, so we'll see."
