since I don't see a thread about them...

excited to see them back at the polo fields! Not a band that plays better live in todays music than muse.
Expect a crazy light show and epic guitar rifts.

the second law was not a bad album either..
solid songs. Saw them 3 times in 2013.

6-7 years ago I would've been thrilled to see Muse as a headliner. It'll still be fun. Their last 2 albums didn't do anything for me. I'll probably check it out because I assume QOTSA will be on the main stage right before them and I'll want to be up close for that one.

When they headlined in 2010 buttloads of celebrity types were standing in in the photopit watching them. Hiltons, Drew Barrymore, Jay-Z, Beyonce...maybe more I forget. That was a big year for Muse.

Really hoping they play more of their older stuff since they will no longer be touring The 2nd Law.

I think they already stated in an interview that their 2014 shows (the few that there will be) will include more old stuff, and then just their "greatest hits".

well supposedly they will be doing a 20th anniversary tour next year at some point. hopefully that does lead to it.

problem with this booking is that they just did a huge US tour including 3 staples center shows so all their loyal fans already saw them very recently...pretty lazy booking

muse bookings at festivals is quite an enigma. When the lineup drops everyone gets all up in arms about them headlining and talk a lot of shit. Then after the festival somehow muse makes it in nearly everyones top 5 list from so and so festival's message board

You know, I still see this "best live band in the world" talk stated all the time about Muse, and it may have been true 7 or 8 years ago, but not anymore. Most of the songs off the last 2 albums suck just as much live as on record, and Bellamy suddenly doesn't even use his guitar half the time.

I'll still see them barring a Pet Shop Boys conflict, especially since "Time Is Running Out" is still a blast live, but I'd take what they say about more old songs with a grain of salt. I'd love to be proven wrong but the days are past when I'm ecstatic over a Muse booking.

The best live shows I've ever seen were both Muse in 2004 and 2007 but I have to agree with you, I've seen them 3 or so times since then and it hasn't been the same. When they DO play old songs though it's fucking incredible

If they go deep into Origin of Symmetry, Absolution and Black Holes and Revelations, I'll be pleased. They fell off after that.

I've seen them 3 times and have not left once without being "wow"ed. If something else is going on after QOTSA though I won't stick around to watch again.

I have to give this award to NIN's Hesitation Tour. But Muses stage setup is always pretty great.

Such arena super-band. Big U2 of generation. Powerful powerful rifts. Bellamy & his synthesizer makes large cream for me. Such high notes. Such ballad cream.

    But such rifts too.

Even though it's board kryptonite to discuss Muse I'm just going to say that even though their last two albums have been crap compared to the first four their live show is still incredible and seeing them at Coachella is magical for me. Would've been nice if they played next year off a hopefully good new album but I'll take it just in case it's their worst yet.

All three headliners will end up on most top tens after the fest. Doesn't get much better than that especially considering the shitshow that was last years top lines.

I am a dude who mostly can't tolerate listening to Muse's albums. Even the old ones don't do much for me. But I will be there Saturday night because their songs sounds 10x as good live. ALSO I want to have Dom Howard's illegitimate man babies.

I read an interview where they said they were getting rid of all the orchestra garbage and the general over the top-ness that plagued their last two albums, so I'm optimistic it will be better than the last two.
