Thread: Pedestrian entrance locations in the past

Default Pedestrian entrance locations in the past

This is my first year not camping at Coachella. We have rented a house nearby, and were planning on walking. I see via Coachella's FAQs (excellent as usual, Psychic Friend) that the pedestrian exits are at 52 and Madison, and 49 and Monroe...these both seem so out of the way! We had assumed erroneously that we'd be able to enter on Madison somewhere in the 50 range, which would be a 20 minute walk, but these locations would be more of a 40 minute walk. So, our bad, but looking to get more of an idea of how far we'll have to walk.

Anybody that used pedestrian entrances in the past know the drill? What do these entrances look like, particularly the 49 and Monroe one?

They have made entering via bike or foot the past 3 years a fucking nightmare. FU, GV!

exiting 49th is worse. my advice is to find a local to drive you to the 52nd and monroe parking lot and walk in from there. it's much quicker than the 2,5 mile walk from 49th,

Thanks guys...bummer. I just sort of expected it would be fairly easy to enter as a pedestrian, since I've only camped. Surprised to hear I was wrong. Funny because our house just went from a 20 minute walk to a 45 minute walk...

    We'll figure it out.

The South pedestrian entrance, off 51st is by the far the easiest entry. Get dropped off on 52nd and it's about a 20-minute walk generally with little wait times. The west entrance is always the most crowded because of the campers.

Wait for the new map. It's likely they have changed things again.

Yeah, pretty much. I walk from Indian Palms (which is about a mile away) and it takes about 45 min to an hour to get there because of the labyrinthian pathway through hell and gone. Not cool!

why don't you line yourself up with the camping supermarket shuttles - at least in the am?
Theyre free and they had them not only from the ralphs strip mall but also stater bros (took this one accidentally) - though the stater bros was a bit further from the fest - still nice and easy ride + air conditioned!

My friends and I are in the same boat as Travelfan. Booked a house on the south end of IPCC near Ave 50....only to find out it's going to be a clusterfuck to get in.

if you are at a house ....get bikes

rent em or ask the person who owns the house if you can pay extra and they have one for each person

you don't want to walk the maze they set up
Just when I think you couldn't possibly be any dumber, you go and do something like this…and totally redeem yourself!

I absolutely third the bike idea. funseekers is awesome. They deliver for $20 roundtrip. We've stayed somewhere in Indian Palms nearly every year and the years with bikes have been a million times more fun, especially at the end of the night when a 45 minute walk feels like it might as well be a 45 mile walk.

4funseekers.com This'll be our fourth year renting with these guys. And if you're super lazy like me, you can get an electric bike that helps you pedal if you want. It's really fun to zoom around the streets of Indio (and you can turn off the power if you wanna bike like a normal person).

It's also not a "maze," because it's a clearly delineated pathway that has been marked and laid out for you.
