Have to think that they are a strong candidate for the Godspeed! late night set time...they'll peg them against Muse if there is any justice in the world. Would love for them to close a stage and get a bit more than an hour set time (or at least a Localchella show).

    7.23 - White Lung // 8.2-3 - HARD Summer // 8.7 - Jagwar Ma // 8.8 - Flume // 8.10 - Warpaint // 8.23-24 - FYF Fest // 9.5 - Feed Me // 10.8 - Kasabian // 10.12 - Speedy Ortiz // 10.25 - The Afghan Whigs // 10.31 - QotSA Halloween Show! // 4.10-12 - Coachella 2015 W1

Where does Mr. Beast rank in their discography? Cuz that's the only one I think I've heard.

A lot of people love it but it's one of my least favorites. Although Autorock might be one of their best songs.

I'm an odd one amongst Mogwai fans in that I'm not much a fan at all of Come On, Die Young. I'd put Mr. Beast right around the halfway mark of their discography. probably.

Based on my listening of the new one today, Mr. Beast is above average (did not love the new one). Auto Rock->Glasgow MS is such a solid eight minutes.

I remember more than a "few" sound issues. Unfortunately, I haven't seen em since.

Stoked for this one. These guys are awesome! Kind of remind me of a less crazy version of Godspeed You! Black Emperor, which is not even remotely a bad thing.

Yes, something like Godspeed You! Not sure about “less crazy”. “More bleak” perhaps? Though GYBE can be pretty bleak themselves, of course. Wonderful, religious experience, GYBE late in the cold of WE 1 ’12 in the Mojave, right after Flying Lotus in the Gobi.

To me, Mogwai’s music seems more visceral and post-apocalyptic sounding; Godspeed more cerebral and cosmic, like tripping at night under the stars. YMMV, of course.

Been going to concerts for a very long time (since ’69) and Mogwai in Toronto a couple years ago (only time I’ve caught them live so far) was the second loudest I ever heard, after Swans.

Stoked Mogwai’s at Coachella, hoping for (and expecting) an evening set, but no conflict with Darkside! (who I hope will play later).

And if you like Mogwai, check out Wolves in the Throne Room (though good luck trying to find them in concert). Oh, and Swans, too.

Thanks for the heads up about the noise. And I will make sure to check out those bands. That's the great thing about Coachella, you just discover so many great artists you normally wouldn't find.

I like the cut of this DFH guy's gib. Although, as a fan of Wolves in the Throne Room, I would say don't bother trying to see them live. I was disappointed.

Mogwai, on the other hand, will never disappoint.

As much as I approve of the Mogwai video action, why does Grannock obviously have two accounts? Can't we clearly say fuck that guy without having to deal with Professor Null?

Really? Man, they blew me away the one time I got to see them and remembered it. The other time I was waaay too drunk, and they pissed me off by lighting an entire bundle of sage up so I went in the other room for more beer. That first time was one of the best black metal shows I have ever seen, though. Krallice opened and killed it. Then Wolves got on stage in complete darkness besides some candles (cheesy I know) and just kicked ass for about an hour. Then they did an encore of "Queen of Borrowed Light" which I had told the bassist was my favorite song of theirs between opening sets. He had told me they don't really play it anymore but would talk to the rest of the dudes, so that was what really made the show for me.

I saw them touring the last one. They were completely disinterested, the songs uniformly sounded better on record, and they cut them all off early. Chelsea Wolfe killed it, and they looked bad by comparison. That said, I'm still glad I caught them.
