YES! love this, cannot wait! Must have been a conflict that allowed me to talk myself into not seeing EITS in 2012. I don't see this happening with Mogwai this year. One of my must see sets.

Yup! Out of all the bands I've seen the only one louder has been MBV.

I can see that. The music does put you in a trance.
    Whiskey Sour

    2 oz blended whiskey
    Juice of 1/2 lemon
    1/2 tsp powdered sugar
    1 cherry
    1/2 slice lemon

Shake blended whiskey, juice of lemon, and powdered sugar with ice and strain into a whiskey sour glass. Decorate with the half-slice of lemon, top with the cherry, and serve.

I will not miss this for anyone. Can't wait to see where they play.

And a lot of first timers will be checking them out. I'm excited to see what you all think after seeing them.

We also better get an LA and Belly Up show in the week between Coachellas.

I didn't know anything about Mogwai--never heard of them--until I saw them at Coachella several years ago, and got immediately hooked. Someone recommended their album "Young Team", which I bought. It got lots of play rotation in my car that year. I then bought their album, "Mr. Beast". Not a bad track on that elpee, too. So, I'd have to say start with "Young Team" and if you like that, buy "Mr. Beast" and go from there. I'm really pumped to see Mogwai again in 2014!

Happy Songs for Happy People and Young Team are, in my mind, the two essential Mogwai albums. They have lots of very good work, but those two are the twin peaks.

Rock Action is also essential. Though, Special Moves is actually very good and probably a good place to start.

To those of you seeing them for the first time - you are lucky, it is kind of overwhelming (and amazing) the first time you hear them play Like Herod or Mogwai Fear Satan live. The more recent stuff is great too, though.

    7.23 - White Lung // 8.2-3 - HARD Summer // 8.7 - Jagwar Ma // 8.8 - Flume // 8.10 - Warpaint // 8.23-24 - FYF Fest // 9.5 - Feed Me // 10.8 - Kasabian // 10.12 - Speedy Ortiz // 10.25 - The Afghan Whigs // 10.31 - QotSA Halloween Show! // 4.10-12 - Coachella 2015 W1

The first time I saw them I had heard that they played long, loud songs, so I was surprised to hear them start an opening set with Hunted By A Freak and Killing All Flies (they had just put out Happy Songs.) They closed the set with a near-40 minute My Father My King that is still one of the most memorable performances I've ever seen, ten years later. My clothes flapped in the sound.

I saw them too on that tour, at The Scene in San Diego....such a small fucking room for those guys (and Isis) - still top-5 loudest show ever for me.

Yup. I was in line an hour before the stadium opened so I was probably 5-10 people back from the stage, so each set felt like a small club show. I even caught a drumstick from Interpol.

They should. In 2004 they played at the same time as the Flaming Lips and in 2006 they were up against Madonna, so both times were night sets.
