LOL!! Beach House, Savages, Daughter, Neko Case, Florence and the Machine, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Lisa Gerrad among so many other female singers are not poppy and I loved and would love to see at Coachella. It is not the female voice Silly, it is the poppy jingle that the bands I listed choose to groove to that I am just not into. I would just rather have The Pixies, Kimbra, Boxer Rebellion, Fink, Holly Golightly and the Brokeoffs, or Melody's Echo Chamber, and so many other great indie bands take their spots.

However, there are many many fantastic bands playing this year, so it will be a great year.

I don't mind Lorde. Her songs are decent or at least not too obnoxious... but then I watched this:

What is this? What is she doing? Its like she's channeling Elain on stage:

I had not interest in seeing her perform, but now its a lock - just to watch the awkward train wreck.

She sounded good. I'm glad she made a nice showing for herself. She was pretty chatty, but I actually found her endearing.

Thank you, GV, for finally doing the right thing and booking her.

This was a great set, just wish she had talked a bit less during that speech.

The set was sweet. I give her a lot of credit for still singing so well despite how windy it was that stage was getting whipped up by the wind the whole time.

Before I read any of these posts, I'm going to guess how it went.

Lorde came on to a beyond capacity tent. Lorde sang a few songs while her backup instrumentalists played. Lorde then sang "Royals". The crowd went absolutely berserk and sang along to every word that was ingrained in their brains from listening to said song hundreds (if not thousands) of times on the radio. Lorde finished singing "Royals".

    Everyone left.

Lorde sang to an empty tent for 20 more minutes, and it was over.

Lord didn't play in a tent at all, so no.

It was an okay performance. The acoustics could have been better in a tent.

Her intro made us all feel sleepy! Keep It Simple Stupid!

Please stop thanking all the green grass on the field for weekend 2 goers! Sing faster so you won't drown from the artist playing on the Coachella stage.

Sensuality you sure cared enough to make an all encompassing generalization of her fans, the show was good, people stayed. Not sure why most people on this forum acts like anything that young people like is automatically detrimental to the festival.

I thoroughly enjoyed Lorde’s set, but it makes you think about the machine behind the scenes driving her success. She has a great voice, genuine look, incredibly produced album, and a fascinating amount of airplay. Beyond that, she’s only 17 and not talented enough to perform with instruments or perform with backups, or a choir, or interweave her own voice-overs. Her dance moves are goofy and knowing that she was told to call off her AU / NZ tour so she could work on a repeatable live performance where she wouldn’t fail miserably in North America just illustrates that she still has a long way to go.
