I will be there. With my Julian Koster cut out. Probably weeping.

Saw them in Salt Lake a few nights ago and my wife and I were blown away. They will be tough to miss should conflicts arise. It was well worth the 5 hour road trip.

I was there as well. Don't miss this band, they brought it and were fun as hell to watch. You could do a drinking game each time they bring out a different accordion if you are so inclined...

Had a friend who went to the show in Portland last night at the Crystal Ballroom. He said they were superb! They have another show tonight at the same venue, I wish I was going after hearing a full report, but I held out on these shows and instead planned to see them this weekend. Can't wait.

So they played a shorter set at the Crystal Ballroom last night which clocked in at just under fifty minutes. I wouldn't be shocked if they went with that for the festival.

The King of Carrot Flowers Part 1
The King of Carrot Flowers Pts. 2 & 3
    Holland, 1945
    Two-Headed Boy
In the Aeroplane Over the Sea
    Naomi
    Ferris Wheel on Fire
    Oh Comely
    Song Against Sex

    Encore:
    Ghost
    [untitled]
    Two-Headed Boy, Pt. 2
    Engine

Frankly, I'd be glad with this. Kind of a bummer that A Baby For Pree-Glow Into You is not there but there's enough great songs for me to go apeshit anyway. Could not be more excited for this set.

You could also make a drinking game each time they use a woodsaw as a musical instrument. I was blown away by how awesome that turned out.

Love the structure of this setlist. ITAOTS -> OAI is the move.

So, I don't want to be the iconoclast, but what is up with Mangum and these guys? I must admit to not being a huge fan (their ascent coincided with my musical dark period brought on by new challenges of marriage and kids) and I enjoyed listening to them in the run-up and the set itself. However, they were the only act that really overtly appeared to big-time GV. They got a sunset spot, the only 100% unopposed time slot, the only post 3.00 pm slot with no video and, of course, the whole no camera thing. GV really must've wanted them badly because it seemed they capitulated to just about every demand.
I have been to concerts. I will go to concerts in the future.

But Mangum requests that with every show he does, right? It's his "Digital Witness" type thing. I think sunset slot is a respectful move especially for all the years the boards have begged for them to play, and it fits the music.

It didn't really turn out to be a magical set like I would assume most people hoped. The mix seemed really off and muddy. The horns should be golden and bright and when the bass fuzz kicks in on Holland I should feel my heart shake.

Am I alone in thinking the sunset set spot is losing a bit of it's mystique? Nothing can live up to Arcade Fire 2005.

It was magical for me until I moved back to lay in the grass and had to deal with above-mentioned teenage girls talking.

During Engine, a group of five teenage girls crammed in the space between me and the person in front of me, which was all of like five inches. Once it ended, I coughed in all of their faces.

I was close up, Jeff looked notably fucked up.

Was a stampede of lana del rey fans trying to get in.

I don't think its a ridiculous request not to be videotaped at all.

It's not ridiculous at all. If your friend asks you not to take their picture, do you say, "fuck you, I'll take a picture of you if I fucking want to"?

I'd venture to say the guitar was so low during Holland 1945 as to ruin the song.

It started at 7.30, so probably just after. My mind is playing tricks on me. I recall it being light out at the start but that song was clearly in the dark. Regardless, your post is 100% correct.

Agreed about the sound issues. JM2012 had a magical quality that this set lacked. Still really good, though.
