One of the coolest aspects of the band is the mystique they've worked so hard to cultivate and that's what appears to be missing from this presentation. Fever Ray's live show was dark and weird and even a little scary. Afterwards I heard all her "band" members were just aping the whole performance anyways but at least it wasn't a deliberate distraction. I kind of wish I was going weekend 2 so I could hear some reports on how it all shakes out.
Sorry, I should have worded that differently. I meant why are people freaking out about how "different" and/or "terrible" this tour is. I too am FREAKING THE FUCK OUT about finally getting to see them. As I did for Fever Ray back in 2010.

I just don't see how someone can give such high praise for the 2006 show, and then shit on this one for not being "live".

*wait, maybe I misinterpreted your point. whatever. FUCK IT. the Knife is real neat. Please sing some Karin. /shitsgiven

No one invites Shannon Funchess along on tour to fucking lipsync. The only question is, how much of the show will she be involved with? Seems unlikely they'd bring her along just to do one song, unless Light Asylum is opening on their other NA dates.

Would have loved to see Light Asylum on the poster (and also kind of expected to see Planningtorock if The Knife were booked, but she's probably a bit too avant-garde for modern day Coachella.)

Not seen them since Sonar in 2006 which was a brilliant show, missed them when they toured last year in the UK so looking forward to seeing the new show.

I will be dancing like a crazy person at the front of this set. If they play "Neverland" I apologize to those around me in advance, I will be going Daft Punk levels of HAM and may punch a few people on accident.

The following words will be dumb but, most years there's a DJ on after one of the headliners on the main but we never consider them the headliner. (kol/chem bros). So why couldn't we possibly get The Knife after OutKast as a tripped out closer to Friday?

Personally I see them on outdoor.

I have no idea if either of these are meant to be complimentary or not. I seem to recall Animal Collective was not well received in 2011 (though, I quite enjoyed their set, even if it didn't quite live up to my huge expectations). Gorillaz was pretty much a flop.

I had a dream yesterday that I was at the first day of Coachella by myself and looking at the set times on a sheet of paper.

OutKast was 10:00-11:30 PM, and The Knife closed the main.

7:00-8:00 PM on Saturday in the Gobi was also labeled as "?????"

That joke is so fresh and new. You really pulled out the big guns man, wow. Inspired.

In reality, I may have like a minute long flip video of the gorillaz set and maybe a 45 second clip of animal collective. Otherwise I was completely engrossed.

So based on a lot of the reaction to those couple of shows last May, at least on these boards, I wasn't very excited to see their name so high on the lineup. Well I decided to do a little of my own research, and seriously the video below shows its not nearly as ridiculous as some people made it sound.

I was in front of the soundboard for Animal Collective, and people were sitting down and leaving in droves after the first song or so. I expect the same to happen on a much larger scale if The Knife play before OutKast.
