Goo goo dolls and skrillex are two acts with dates that could work according to song kick. Didn't really notice a whole lot of others though.

Actually nevermind skrillex probably out. Seems like way more acts have conflicting stuff going on, then not.

Also tomorrowland is in belguim that weekend so you can probably scratch everyone who is performing the list of possibilities too

Skrillex is probably a decent bet to show up, actually. At least judging by his current tour dates.

Skrillex just played a major EDM festival in Vancouver about a 12-14 weeks ago.

DCFC don't seem to much more than an theater act here in Vancouver. Pemberton is different than Sasquatch/Bumbershoot in this regard. Postal Service got bumped down in venue size, 2011 in an arena did less than 4,000 and 2009/2006 arena appearances needed strong support billing like New Pornographers(homecoming show) or Franz Ferdinand. They were also 3rd last on the final day of Pemberton 2008.

With outside lands announcing on Tuesday as well, I'm guessing one of the headliners must be at both fests?

Springsteen or Kanye? Sounds like killers at both.

I think this is likely the case. They'll have to wait for OSL to announce before they can release their lineup.

Also, looking back to Hangout Fest in 2013 (back when HUKA still ran the show) they sold 35,000 tickets at prices similar to Pemby and brought in Tom Petty, Stevie Wonder, and KoL to headline. I think that, if Tom Petty is planning to tour behind his new album (which his press release indicates that he is) then there's a good chance he's on the bill.

Petty's been rumored for OSL as well.

Petty fits the "30 year rock legend" criteria better than the Foos, though I have to wonder about repeating a headliner at both editions of the Pemberton Festival. Unlike Kanye/Arcade, there won't be a major setlist change from 6 years ago and local residents will have an excuse not to go.

The Straight tweeted the lineup will be out on Tuesday, at the same time Pemberton's Social media countdown seems to have ended (their social media campaign has been truly dismal) so it will be interesting to see if they actually announce at the same time as OSL or not.

Pixies possible? They have the dates available and seem to be playing a few fests. Pharrell also has a gap in his schedule that fits. As do the avett brothers

You are thinking of Danny Brown. Action and Danny Brown were touring together and Brown was the one who was stopped at the boarder. He has since been cleared and is now good to play in Canada. Neither Action nor Brown will be playing Pemberton though. Action Bronson is playing at Venue on 4/20 and Danny Brown is playing Squamish.

NERD was actually one of my favourite sets of Pemberton 08, I dont think he owes them anything.

    Kasabian/Bo Ningen: 10/1 @ Metro
Coachella: 4/10-12 @ Empire Polo Fields

What if they're putting together the identical 2008 lineup? Jay Z, NIN, Coldplay, Tom Petty, Pharrell (N.E.R.D), all seem to be available that weekend. I wasn't there in 2008, I don't know who I'm missing or who is/isn't available.

It would be a massive cash loss for 1 year, but a cool shout out to that first festival that was something special.

This sentence hurts my brain. So, he owes the fans because traffic was bad? That sounds like Pemberton's fault, not his. It isn't his fault the festival was a disorganized clusterfuck.

Also, due to traffic, not do.

Thanks grammar police, the internet is a much better place with you around. It was a joke, relax. I was there and enjoyed the festival. If you really want to nitpick fault though, every other act managed to show up on time...

This market has stiff festival competition with 2 month head-start and a location is a headache travel wise for some.

Stevie Wonder is interesting. I saw his Vancouver arena show in 2008, while the show was incredible the balcony was completely empty and the older leaning crowd won't travel up for it. That 2008 show was his only Western Canadian appearance since 1986.

The Antlers are OUT, per their tour dates released today.

Also, Jack White having shows set for July 19, 20, and 21 doesn't speak very well to his chances of headlining Pemberton on the 18th. That would be a pretty grueling run. I'm thinking he's definitively OUT.

Something by Pemberton gets announced tomorrow.

Looks like there was no early bird ticket holder teaser email sent out as promised on Thursday.

I should also mention that this is also the same weekend as the Vancouver Folk Fest. I went 2 days last year with comps - Hannah Georgas/Kathleen Edwards/Steve Earle was a nice run of acts. They've been courting a younger crowd in recent years.

I think that the teaser email goes out tonight (probably midnight PT) and contains the whole lineup. That way, they're not revealing anything early that could be contractually damaging.

    Just a hunch.

They still have time to send out whatever the teaser e-mail will be. Would it actually include a bunch of artists? Realistically? This is the internet, after all. Those artist names would be spread all over Twitter, Facebook, message boards, etc. within minutes. Bonnaroo, Outside Lands, etc. drop 'roo clues' and instagram hints but they don't tell you outright who's playing before the full announcement.

Pemberton should've specified 'watch for an e-mail Monday night/Tuesday morning' or not done it at all. Just gives these people more reasons to bitch. If you like the lineup, go. If not, don't. Shouldn't it be that simple?

I'm excited about tomorrow. I'm curious how it will all unfold with the OL lineup and possible/probable/hopeful Pemberton lineup.

Headliners/exclusive acts it's true. Everything else not so much. Dozen of other festivals leak out smaller names in the lead up to the full lineup drop. They could also release maps of the festival site or other information. I'm wondering what sponsors they got onboard beyond the Whistler/Blackcomb tourism board and a couple Indian reservations.

Has anyone ruled out Lorde? I don't know which line she'd appear on for something like Pemberton but that seems like a reasonable get. She's playing Coachella, Rock In Rio and Lolla and from what I can find has an open schedule in July.

Actually it was Mountain FM that tweeted that. I wouldn't read too much into the announcement being on the Whistler radio station. Lineup drops at 7am.

As for the sneak peek I find the reactions pretty hilarious. They said watch for an email in a few days....while their countdown was at 5. Obviously it was going to come right before the official announcement but people have been losing their shit ever since. Anyways fingers crossed that they can come through as they've put themselves in a tough spot.
