Default Educate Others On The 2014 Lineup

This will work as it has in years past. Give us a short (or not, but you want people to read it) summary of an artist on the lineup. Maybe tell us about their live show if you've seen them. Post no more than 3 videos if you can help it, but please post at least one. To help with loading time, please do not quote posts that contain videos.

I will update this post with links, as submissions are made in the thread.

Any other suggestions regarding post content are welcome.

Bombino kick ass guys. He plays rock/blues music sung in his native language, he is from Niger. His record Nomad was produced by Dan Auerbach from the Black Keys which is how I found out about his music a couple years ago. Agadez is also a solid record and a bit closer to his traditional style. Oh I should mention there is a documentary on the guy, I haven't seen it so I can't say much about it but if you like his music it may be worth tracking down. Here is a NPR Tiny Desk concert:

Taken from my Warpaint thread after seeing them at The El Rey a few months back:

Warpaint are a bunch of chicks who make awesome, sultry music with great sonic elements, sexy vocals, and nice thick bass lines. They are an absolute do not miss.

Warpaint is very good on record, and even better live. I enjoyed the hell out of their 2011 Coachella set.

Warpaint sucks. IF anyone talks about them on this forum, you will see my right behind you saying they suck.
Superfan will be in front of the Fonda masturbating furiously to a photo of him taking a photo of a band. Set is from 8:05 to approximately 8:05:15. Guest list only.

Upcoming Shows: Nocturnal Wonderland Saturday, Cut Chemist/Dj Shadow - Palladium, Massive Attack SB Bowl, Festival Supreme, Coachella 2015

Is this because you are 12 years old and unable to come up with better adjectives that might express your feelings for Warpaint in an intelligent way?

You matter and so does your opinion. You are appreciated. Don't let me saying that Warpaint are ehhh on record get in the way of what we share. It's far too important for that to get in the way. I did say GREAT live so there is hope for them still. I tend to get sleepy when I listen to them on record.

Someone definitely has to do a Motörhead writeup. I am pretty uneducated on them besides the hits.

    Foxygen

They've been around for about 9 years. Feels odd to say since their music is so fresh. They're always on the cusp of breaking up (according to rumors) and their last album, We Are the 21st Century Ambassadors of Peace & Magic, is a solid trip back to the 60s. Love it or hate it, San Francisco is a song that could have been made 45 years ago and stood the test of time. See them!

    Edit- now with Youtube goodness

    Unlocking The Truth

They are an instrumental heavy metal band from Brooklyn, NY. They are currently working on their debut album at the moment, to be released later this year. Oh yeah, they’re also only 12 years old!!! I saw these guys at Fun Fun Fun Fest last year. They sounded great and they had a huge crowd cheering them on. They’ll probably play early in the day but they are definitely worth getting there early to see. Do not miss out on seeing these guys.

    December 31 - Matthew Dear/The Sword/Pallbearer
    January 30 - Behemoth
    February 3 - Zola Jesus
    February 10 - 1349
February 28 - A Place To Bury Strangers
    April 6 - Swans
    April 10-12 - Coachella
    April 17 - Clark/Nosaj Thing
May 8-10 - Austin Psych Fest
    May 15-17 - Psycho California
    June 24-28 - Glastonbury

I will not be attending Coachella this year, but I recommend FLUME if you're looking for some good electronic on the bill. His set at FYF Fest last summer was one of my favorites of the year and top two of that fest. Flume is an Australian electronic music producer/dj. His debut album was one of my favorites of 2013 (though the album came out late 2012 I consider it 2013 for it's U.S. release) Some of his sounds remind me of the Avalanches, so if you've been dying to see those aussies on a Coachella lineup go check out this dude and I'm sure you'll be more than satisfied.

    Wye Oak

A rock duo from Baltimore that has three pretty bad-ass albums, my favorite being the most recent Civilian. They have an album that's coming out in 2014, as well. Their songs usually have some nice guitar work, and range from laid-back to crunchy and loud. The lead singer is a female, Jenn Wasner, if you're into that sort of thing. I've never seen them live, but I have a recording of a show they did in Washington state that sounds pretty good. I know I won't miss them if I can help it, as I've been waiting over two years to see them.

    Crosses

Crosses (usually stylized as †††) is the musical side project of Deftones singer Chino Moreno, Far guitarist Shaun Lopez and Chuck Doom, based in Los Angeles, California,[1] and formed in 2011. They currently have 2 EPs out there and their first studio album is due out in early 2014. The musical style of Crosses is often referred to as electronic or witch house. However, Carson O'Shoney of Consequence of Sound and Daniel Brockman of The Boston Phoenix note that Crosses only shares a resemblance to witch house in aesthetics and imagery, and not the group's actual music.

Netsky is a drum and bass producer affiliated with the amazing Hospital Records lineup of artists. He's a youngun on the scene relative to most of the other people who command his kind of drawing power, but he can seriously throw the fuck down. He also seems to be among the only dnb on the entire lineup, so if you like your beats hard, fast, but heavily melodic, he's a must see. I will be at this set no matter what, higher than FUCK and dancing my balls off, and you should too. At Escape From Wonderland or Beyond Wonderland or whatever a couple years ago when High Contrast, Netsky, and Andy C were all playing the same night, it was Netsky that actually delivered the most enjoyable set, which is a serious fucking achievement.

time will tell won't it? I'm ok with Warpaint proving me wrong, shit it's what I want. Problem is up to this point the EP and debut are both meh to me. I mean I like some of the songs on record, but you won't see me going to their records a whole lot. I've seen them 6 times live cause I think they kill live so there is that. either way, let's not make this thread about differences in opinions. This is my last post about Warpaint in this thread.
