    Kanye
    Eminem
    Killers
    Coldplay
    Green Day
    Prince
    Mumford & Sons

We are about a month out from Instagram clues (began on April 11th in 2012 and April 9th in 2013).
With Outkast off the table, this might be the first year since the first one in 2008 that I don't go. My work schedule won't be as flexible during that stretch in August as it has been in years past. Elton & Prince are the only headliners (listed above) that would have any significant influence on my decision.

Lets all hope so. I put them on the list because they have been rumored before and are a Bay Area band.

That article you linked to, titled "Green Day appears to be done with touring until next year" is 6 months old, making "next year", this year. I expect better facts from you Bumblebee. They have two shows at sxsw next week.

Only good thing about Green Day headlining would be having no conflicts for Cut Copy or Disclosure on Twin Peaks.

I think "not worried about the undercard" is a better way to put it. OSL will come through in that regard.

Greek Theatre LA season announced today. Might be some crossover...

Aug. 2: Los Lonely Boys/Kenny Wayne Shepherd
    Aug. 7: Michael McDonald/Toto
Aug. 8: GO Country 105 “Summer Under the Stars” presents Jake Owen plus guests Frankie Ballard and Leah Turner
Aug. 9: Hot 92.3 Presents “Hot Summer Nights — Old School Saturday Night Live at The Greek” featuring Morris Day and the Time, Lakeside, Ready for the World, Alexander O’Neal, Taste of Honey and Yarbrough and Peoples
Aug. 12: Under the Sun Tour featuring Sugar Ray, Smash Mouth, Blues Traveler and Uncle Kracker
    Aug. 13: ZZ Top/Jeff Beck
Aug. 16: Hot 92.3 Presents “Hot Summer Nights — An Evening With Smokey Robinson”
Aug. 17: Counting Crows plus guest Toad the Wet Sprocket
    Aug. 22: Lila Downs
    Aug. 23: Alejandra Guzmán

Not a whole lot jumps out at me for OSL, but could The Morris Day and the Time booking add fuel to this?

They had a falling out about 4 years ago because Prince owns their name. Don't think they've done anything together since 2009ish.

Could see Michael McDonald, ZZ Top or Smokey Robinson there (although the dates don't synch up as well as with crossover acts from years prior like the National). OSL always seems to have 1 or 2 of these types of bands (Al Green, Hall & Oates, etc.)

Are Pixies off the table? Looks like they have an Aug. 6 gig in London, but then free for awhile.

I would say no they're not off the table. They just played a couple of bay area shows last month, one of which was the Fox Theater in Oakland which is an APE venue.

They recently played a sold out show at the Fox and one in San Jose in February. I think they were APE shows who is one of the promoters of OSL, so its a possibility. I don't think they have played before which is a good thing since OSL doesn't like repeats.

edit: Beat me to it, IK.

Missing The Pixies in LA and then not seeing them on the lineup for Coachella is a sadness I cannot describe! I hope to god they're at OSL...

That's kinda pressing your luck they have played SF,San Jose, and Big Sur this year but I wouldn't complain and see their set if they played OSL.

Um, Paul McCartney headlined one day. I do concur with your point how having the RHCP anywhere near the lineup can stain the entire festival, but Friday last year was amazing (especially The National into Sir Paul).

Well I think with the amount of Festivals there are now originality was thrown out the window, unless of course they would shift back to the Jam band headliner (which I would be OK with). OSL have yet to repeat headliners and I don't see that happening this year.

Also Prince or no Prince, I would still very much welcome Morris Day and the mother fucking Time.

The Avett Brothers seem likely. They are playing a few fests this year, including bonaroo, and have no CA dates and an empty spot around this time of OSL right before they play in Las Vegas. They haven't played OSL since 2008. http://www.theavettbrothers.com/tour/

Has anyone considered Soundgarden has a possible headliner, or subheadliner? They are headlining two South American Lollapaloozas, and the July Sasquatch festival (along with a bunch of European fests), and it fits with the NIN/Metallica theme they had the past two years. They're also one of the few remaining possible acts that have announced fest dates, but don't have any conflicts.

I did NOT expect him to be a possibility but Mac Demarco is playing Hollywood in July and then he also plays Pickathon Fest in Oregon which runs August 1-3... So I think that makes him pretty likely.
