yeh, I also think Outkast are going to call it quits after this ridiculous tour
    9/27 - Simian Mobile Disco - Mezzanine
    10/2 - Elton John - SAP Center
    10/3-10/5 - Hardly Strictly Bluegrass - GGP
    10/4 - DJ Shadow + Cut Chemist - Mezzanine
    10/6 - Kasabian + Bo Ningen - Fox
    10/21 - Melvins + Le Butcherettes - GAMH
11/1 - Hard Day of the Dead - Fairplex
    4/17-4/19 - Coachella weekend 2

I can't imagine Outkast would headline three festivals within an 18 month period in the Bay Area.
He announced he's leaving but it sounds like he's not actually leaving the band for another month...

"Short version: Im leaving Death Cab for Cutie. My last show with the band will be September 13, 2014, at the Rifflandia Festival in Victoria, BC."

I noticed the same thing about the crowd...but am a little surprised you think that's actually an improvement, as I'd say it was probably the worst crowd I've seen yet at OSL.

wasn't really saying it was better or worse, just different. it seemed like this crowd paid the least attention to the sets I was at compared to any other year I have been (been to all of them, everyday). just the shear volume of that noticably younger demographic may have tipped the scales toward more annoying for me. but who the f*ck am I to judge? if people are bothering me during a set I'm into, I move. I'm stoked the kids are realizing what a treat it is to have a festival of this caliber take place in Golden Gate Park. when it's too much for me, I just won't buy a ticket, simple as that.

Of course it's hard to say now, but those are all I can imagine right now.
    Foo Fighters
    U2
    Daft Punk

    (at least I can dream...)

I'm going to say Coldplay, The Who, and Drake or Eminem.

I think the Foo's will play Bottlerock, Dave Grohl said he wanted to two years ago. Not to mention the 2012 was not THAT long ago. I think Bruce is likely, as is Elton. Time will tell.

Perhaps this is a dumb question but is Drake at headliner status yet?

I was under the impression that he was still sub-headliner.

After the mixed reaction to Kanye this year (seems like half of us hated him and the other half loved him) I wouldn't be surprised to see them go back to three rock headliners.

I think the fact that the festival sold out in basically a day means they will definitely be considering hip-hop acts for the future. Ticket sales trumps crowd reaction.

Drake has probably reached headliner status but not sure how likely he would be at OSL next year.

I don't see Arcade Fire touring a year from now since they usually make themselves scarce between tours.

Outside lands is very different from coachella, this is the first year they've had a repeat headliner at all

I know they're not an exciting choice in the slightest, but the ultimate festival whores known as The Black Keys have somehow not headlined yet. And they have a new album out.

Have you not realized the bros and female bros that either work in tech or live off a trust that live in the city and go to festivals to be seen?

I've been going to festivals since 1995 and find OSLs crowd to be well within acceptable limits. OSLs crowd is the middle ground between that of Sasquatch and Coachella.

Remember folks, the shittier the music, the shittier the crowd. Those of you complaining about the crowd might want to take a look at the bands you were checking out at the time.
9/18 CHVRCHES @ the Fox Theatre
9/22 Tove Lo @ the Fillmore

10/24 Little Dragon @ the Fox Theatre
10/24 Rfs Du Sol @ The Mezzanine
10/29 PHISH @ Bill Graham Civic Auditorium
    10/31 AlunaGeorge @ 1015 (?)

Yeah, or perhaps maybe some of the crowd that pushed their way to the front for for Tom Petty really came for Macklemore.

That does suck. However, Space Invaders are an inevitable part of concert life.

I'll have you know, during Petty's set, the crowd for El Radio Fantastique at Dr. Flotsam's Hell Brew Revue was pretty great.
