    I've been busy with Coachella.

That's insane though. Guess I'm not going this year.

I'm certainly no expert on ticket prices or Outside Lands, but I imagine the secondary market will go back to normal pricing in due time. There are craigslist posters asking around face value.

Yeah, it is very possible Stubhub tickets will probably drop the closer it gets to the fest. Its tough to gauge the market, but there's a decent probability that this will happen.

Useless fact: I Feel like a huge dickhead for telling some people who might've wanted to go with me this year that tickets didn't sell-out until August last year. I knew I wanted to go so I bought an Eager Beaver ticket, and they are all ticketless now.

Yeah, I've told some people the same thing and feel bad about it. But, honestly, who would have known? There was no historical precedent. They don't seem too pissed about it, and I think tickets wont be bad to get in the end if they really want them.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. Right now there are only about 600 tickets on StubHub whereas Coachella Weekend 1 had around 6k at its peak (and Weekend 2 has about 500 still available NOW). So it may be the case that the demand was mostly organic and not primarily influenced by scalpers. I'm still confused as to what caused the surge in demand (Tiesto & Macklemore??) so who knows. Hopefully ticket prices will come down though.

This fest is just becoming more well-known, it's obvious that its national presence is increasing every year. The lineup was amazing the last couple of years and I'm sure many of those attendees talked about how great it was with their friends. I traveled from Austin last year for OSL and had a fantastic time. This year's lineup is underwhelming for me and not good enough to bring me back, but I can understand how it would sell out quickly. There are a lot of radio-friendly artists at the top of the bill. Let's face it, McCartney/NiN/RHCP are just not relevant to 18 year olds. They'd rather see Kanye/Macklemore/Arctic Monkeys (gag).

7/30 Tori Amos, 8/1 Ray LaMontagne, 8/5 Justin Timberlake, 8/14 Nine Inch Nails + Soundgarden, 8/22 Aerosmith + Slash, 8/24 Nickel Creek, 8/28 Bear in Heaven, 8/31 Little Dragon, 9/11 Delta Spirit, 9/20 Conor Oberst, 9/26 Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, 9/28 The War on Drugs, 10/3 & 10/5 ACL W1, 10/13 Paul McCartney, 10/18 twenty one pilots, 10/19 Erasure, 11/7 Rufus Wainwright, 11/7-11/9 FFF Fest, 11/23 Caribou, 12/14 Fleetwood Mac, 12/19 The Black Keys + St. Vincent

    Well no, but...

...They have the potential to up the attendance to 75k, but so far they've kept it to 60k. My guess is that the crowd numbers will be roughly similar to last year, for good or for ill.

We need a '14 Ranger Dave AMA where he can be asked about this fifteen + times.

If you live in California, check your local Craigslist about 4 weeks before. Never fails for me, and by never fails I mean I never pay $20 more than the list price and when I dont get the early tickets to whatever festival it is then I go this route. There will be plenty of supply at that time, you just have to be patient and know that you will be good.

The only good news out of a quick sell out is that we should get the day by day breakdowns and schedule earlier since they don't have to worry about ticket sales.

This is new ground for the festival in selling out so quick and it will likely lead to the market for tickets playing out very differently than before. VG, I hope you are right. Would love to see how much value I can get out of the passes I have as early as possible.

I'm hoping for an artist addition. I'm thinking maybe somebody that's played locally recently, and they couldn't announce until their tour has passed through?

Knowing Ranger Dave, its most likely the addition of 4 new artists. 1 cool one and 3 meh ones.

I'm thinking it might be more tickets on sale. Have they ever announced new artists this soon after the line-up dropped?

In 2011 they announced The Shins a day or two after the lineup was announced. It could be tickets but could also be someone like Pixies, The Replacements or Lorde, i.e. a big name they couldn't announce until after Coachella.

I'm looking back in this thread trying to find the user who has named the past 2 years OSL headliners before it was announced, seeing if this guy might know what this announcement is.
