In 2014, I will return to this board.
That's the best resolution I've heard in years.
will you be turning wood in to gold?
How is everyone doing? I've been failing at everything except for miles, which I am kicking ass at.
- Back in physical therapy, and working out regiment began last week
- Went to Seattle & Vancouver for the first time last weekend, have my airfare for Austin Psych Fest booked thanks to my awesome boyfriend
- Saw 7 shows in January, have 8 lined up for February
- Am making progress on book 1 (Cloud Atlas), but this needs the most improving of my resolutions.
9/12: Shifted @ Mercer
9/24 - 28: Decibel Festival
10/3-5: Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival
10/4: Ought @ BoH
10/5: The War on Drugs, Cass McCombs @ The Fillmore
10/18-19: Treasure Island Music Festival
I'm enjoying doing what I want without worrying what everyone thinks and it's making me very happy.
I am making time for the people that really count in my life, and trying to make an effort to see those people more often.
Mis lecciones de espanol van a muy bien!
I have been truly thankful and grateful for my health, my family and friends and all the fun things I can do in my life.
I don't think I posted my resolutions, so here's my thing:
Mantra: "Make it count"
-Pay more attention to my body's needs to achieve a healthy weight and sleep schedule.
-Quit being such a shitty deadbeat aunt to the kids in my life.
-Fill my heart with good things; art, dates and travel so as to not be a crotchety old drunk lady.
-Turn my financial situation around. Preferably not wanting to shoot myself when I think about debt and repo.
-Fix my bike and drive less.
Since Jan. 1:
I don't rush things, I think about it, and I'm much more careful with my words and actions, to make my connections count. Seems to be working.
-Cut out salt, and I'm trying, with not much success to sleep better. I have a new alarm clock, and a new goal to at least be in bed an hour before I plan to sleep, and at least get out of the bed and sleep somewhere else if I must, after the first snooze. Also lost somewhere around 6 lbs since Sundance and keeping it off.
-I bought valentines cards yesterday to send to the little shits, and had a lengthy text conversation with my 11 year old niece about Justin Timberlake.
-I am taking myself to an art date this Friday, and planning a girls night in next Friday. Debating Sasquatch in addition to Coachella, since Spain is nothing but a pipe dream.
-I had an appointment with the school's financial advisor. How does one refinance a car?
-I found my bike.
My resolutions are all in progress. They're not things that were meant to be done in a month though. I'm working hard at bettering myself and I'm happy with the progress so far. At the very least, I am embracing challenges instead of shying away from them.
2. Actually made significant progress here
3. Made some progress here and also don't care as much
Some mid year resolutions:
1. Finish reading Ulysses, Gravity's Rainbow, and Wind-Up Bird Chroncile
2. Finish listening to the entire Bob Dylan and Neil Young catalogs
3. Start playing music again
4. Become a decent cook
I have really enjoyed putting my own needs first for a change. I'm learning how to say no when I don't really want to do something. That one is tough but I'm getting better.
I cut off contact with someone that I was in a toxic friendship with, that I still feel sad about, but I had to do it.
My new Spanish teacher is much more relaxed than my first but I need to keep working on my conversational skills. That's my weakest area.
I feel really happy these days and I am grateful.
Guess I'm doing OK at the half-year mark.
I purposely chose not to make any resolutions this year, so I'm doing pretty damn good thus far.
I decided I was going to work on my confidence and standing up for myself, it's been going very well. I have had some difficult conversations with people I care about that really helped the relationships, I have negotiated a better salary with another raise to come shortly, I have even returned food that was prepared wrong. I wish I had done this years ago.
You're so bossy now. Pfft.
