Every time I hear Love Shack by B-52s at a wedding I want to stick needles in my eyes.

Yes, I don't want to hear that song again for a long time. 'Roam' is getting there as well.
We're here to play some Mississippi Delta Blues. We're in a horrible depression, and I gotta admit - we're starting to like it.

    I won't miss this one:

Not a classic, but never needs to be played again:

Oddly enough, I heard this strange cover version of "Love Shack" in a grocery store. It sounded exactly the same except it was sung by different/younger people. Almost like a kidz bop version? It was bizarre. And horrible.

Not a "classic" song, yet at least, but I've heard that "Do I Wanna Know" song by Arctic Monkeys so many times in the past year that it creates a violent reaction out of me whenever I hear the beginning of it.

    Macy Gray - "I Try"

Saw her this past weekend. I'm over it. She also covered "Creep." The Radiohead one.

That means you can't watch A Hard Day's Night by the Beatles or listen to George Harrison's All Things Must Pass, Eno's second, third or fourth records, Daryl Hall's surprisingly fantastic Sacred Songs or Peter Gabriel's third and best album.

Not to mention Phil Collins' fantastic solo work. Maybe it's because I grew up with albums like No Jacket Required, but I love so many of his songs wholly and unironically. I really hope the rumors are true about him touring again.

I agree, but if he has such intense loathing for the guy then he's probably not gonna enjoy any of the solo work.

Okay fair enough. Mainly meant Genesis and his solo stuff.

I assume that when we name a song in this thread it encompasses all versions of it, not just the original. In many cases a large portion of the reason I don't like hearing it is because dozens of street performers have terrorized me with it.

One Valentine's day in Santa Barbara my Dutch boyfriend and I were sitting on the patio of the main drag (State Street) at an Italian restaurant. This busker was walking by playing something vaguely familiar....it was pleasant enough as something passing by, but my boyfriend loved it, and against my protestations, chased the guy down and gave him $10. The dude then perched up right by our table and proceeded to play that same tune over and over and over and over and over and over again.

It was the Flinstones theme song.

I do think a lot of people who say they hate Phil Collins have really barely even listened to him beyond hearing his singles in passing.

I was so bummed to miss his last solo tour about ten years ago. Screw another Genesis tour, I'm holding out for this.

What lead you to connect the premise of this thread with the idea behind that question?
