Thread: "Classic" songs that you could go without hearing for 10 years.

  1. #1

Default "Classic" songs that you could go without hearing for 10 years.

Not necessarily songs you hate. More like songs you can tolerate but because of being overplayed on the radio you could use a break from hearing. I put "classic" because its easy to name recent songs that your tired of. I want to hear about the ones you grew up with and are tired of.

I am probably going to get shit for this, but anything by Nirvana, most of Foo Fighters and RHCP, majority of Sublime. Kroq really kills these bands by drilling them into your head 4 times an hour.

We Will Rock You > We Are the Champions. So, so fed up with that combo. If I go the rest of my life without hearing either that'd be ideal.

I've never once demo deliberately listened to Hotel California yet I'm so damn sick of it.

The ability for our media to ruin pieces of music is depressing.

    STFU gunz.

I was gonna post Hotel California, but I hate that song so much I couldn't even bring myself to go look for the youtube. I see that others have the same problem.

so here's these instead.. all of these suck and I could go a lifetime without being within earshot of this rotting tripe:

that last one is probably not yet "classic" but there are enough stupid people in the world that, like air pollution and mideast violence, it seems inevitable.

    in a similar vein:

I'm with Tom regarding "Get Lucky."

Also, Seven Nation Army. Not so much the song itself, but how the bassline is chanted at every single sporting event. The worst.

i agree with tom on "one more time". i remember dancing my ass off at a rave when it first came out, but the song has lost all meaning at this point.

I must not listen to nearly as much classic rock, because none of this stuff is played out for me.

This, however, I could easily go 10 years without hearing again:

not just played out. Bad from day 1, and then overexposed.

I'm pretty sure that "Call Me Al" is the 80s equivalent to "Hotel California". Wherein I cringe at the opening notes and wince at the inanity of the lyrics. Unfortunately, Call Me Al also has a buddy-video to go along with it, presaging Friends by nearly 10 years.

DON'T YOU GET IT? CHEVY CHASE IS REALLY TALL, AND PAUL SIMON IS REALLY SHORT, AND THAT'S REALLY FUNNY, BUT LIKE THEY'RE REALLY REALLY GOOD FRIENDS IN REAL LIFE, SO THEY SPONTANEOUSLY MADE THIS VIDEO TOGETHER OUT OF LOVE AND FRIENDSHIP. AND CHEVY CHASE PRETENDS TO LIP SYNC PAUL'S SINGING PARTS. AND THEY'RE IN A ROOM AND THEY DANCE. GOD DAMN IT DON'T YOU GET IT?
