I think the Bonnaroo lineup is stronger than Coachella this year - at least for me. By FAR better than the 2013 lineup. Kanye, Damon, Jack White, Arctic Monkeys, Phosphorescent, Elton freaking John. Could have had the Replacements, though. Seems like they are really on the unique "get" for Coachella.

No doubt. Same with MGMT before them. And QOTSA is this years Kings of Leon.

Yet Foster The People is headline worthy? Great logic.

What the fuck are you talking about? QOTSA never headlined and they haven't played the festival since 2003.

What other festival are the Knife playing in the United States?

They are a rock band who's popularity is peaking and about to fall off a cliff, ala Kings of Leon.

None that I know of. They are touring and playing tons of dates, including two in SF, so not in any way exclusive.

Nice try, but they aren't playing 'tons of dates'. Other than Coachella, they're only playing 7 cities. So yeah, it's a pretty big deal.

This is a fucking stupid statement and a completely off-base and inaccurate comparison.
10/8 - Little Dragon @ Marquee (Tempe, AZ)
10/11 - Carolina Chocolate Drops @ Rialto Theater (Tucson, AZ)
11/10 - The Black Keys @ US Airways Center (Phoenix, AZ)

Yeah, but who could blame them for skipping the middle of the U.S. Anyone who would otherwise hinge their decision on the Knife will have an ample chance to see them.

Because their popularity isn't peaking? They played over Tom Waits (!) at Bridge School, playing a prominent spot here, headlining Sasquatch. Next year, they'll go back to being just another shitty rock band.

There is literally nothing on the Bonnaroo lineup that is in any way an exclusive. Every single act on that poster is doing extensive, extended touring across pretty much the entire world, with the exception of the superjams, obviously. What, exactly, is your point?

Are you fucking serious? Seven cities. All sold out super quick. There are plenty of people that want to see them that aren't going to get a chance. Ample is a really ridiculous word to use here. Ample describes the being able to see Phoenix. Not the Knife.

I never said that there were any Bonnaroo exclusives. I was responding to a post disclaiming The Knife as an exclusive. Though as far as I know Damon Albarn is not touring. At least not in the U.S. Neither are Elton John (though he has toured in the recent past) or Jack White.

Right, but your comment which I originally cited grew out of your criticism of Coachella wherein you referenced the Replacements as the only real "get," to which the Knife was brought up (though I'd argue there are plenty of bands on the Coachella lineup which have yet to appear on any other festival lineup nor schedule a massive tour, but that's neither here nor there). I was just pointing out that if you're using exclusivity as some sort of flagpost for trumpeting a festival's greatness, Bonnaroo doesn't really have that either. Elton John is touring this summer, Albarn will be doing U.S. dates in May and June, Jack White is headlining both Governor's Ball and Hangout at the very least. Just stating that it's pretty pointless to criticize a festival for it's lack of exclusive "gets" (especially when that point is demonstrably false) when that same statement can be made for pretty much every U.S. festival. It's not as if Bonnaroo is fucking Primavera or something, it's a nice collection of bands, pretty much all of which were either everywhere last year or are everywhere this year. It's still the best selection they've ever had.
