I haven't been to Porto, but I have no doubt you'd be happy spending the extra days in Barcelona. There is more worthwhile sightseeing to do in Barcelona than you could easily fit into festival days, and if you managed to see everything, there are several reasonably accessible beaches (and the weather should be warm enough for swimming or sunbathing by Primavera).

Another option would be going to Madrid in between. A high speed train would get you between Barcelona and Madrid in a couple of hours; Madrid has more than enough world class museums, fabulous restrooms and nightlife to help you kill a few days. You'd have several options of train, bus and air travel between Madrid and Porto.

I would love to take a dip in that pool in the press/vip area.

I'm considering a visit to Madrid if I don't do Porto. Still need that lineup and some more tour announcements.

The tour dates basically rule out Arcade Fire for Primavera Portugal. The other big acts have open dates.

Thu 05/29/14 Barcelona, Spain Parc del Forum
Sat 05/31/14 Lisbon, Portugal Bela Vista Park ("Rock In Rio - Lisbon")
Fri 06/06/14 London, United Kingdom Earls Court
Sat 06/07/14 London, United Kingdom Earls Court

Arcade Fire wont be at Porto, but not because of those dates (Thu 5th would be do-able).

Announcement is one of their bullshit presentations somewhere. Supposedly may not be posted online until Tuesday.

Bullshit because they don't share it online first? They wouldn't put the date on the website and then tell everyone the day after.

I'm sure Television (and many others) would be there if Coachella was only one weekend or had two different line-ups.

Probably because Primavera locked them into a contract first. Though I think we might see Television at FYF.

Hmmm. Most of what I was hoping for from barcelona except for julia holter, Chvrches, factory floor, Jesu, Nin, etc, and I've never been. But barcelona works better time and budget wise. Ugh, the national has to be the one to headline both? Guess I'm still undecided on which.

I'm pretty sure I'll be sticking to just Barcelona - Nearly 100% of what I want to see on the Optimus list will be in Barcelona, and sticking around would more than double the amount of PTO I need to take.

So? We know that Coachella signs artist contracts for exclusivity/no other major festivals within a certain time range. I'm sure Primavera does as well.

Primavera overpays and will have an artist be an exclusive. Their radius clause is ridiculous. If youre headlining, you cannot perform anywhere in the country for the rest of the year.

Coachella gets dibs on announcing first and a radius clause of their choosing. Not sure how this would effect Primavera since it announces after Coachella.

They shared Postal Service last year, not sure why GV would be protective over a Television 2015 reunion - especially without Lloyd participating.

What part of Primavera probably locked them down first and got exclusivity did you struggle with? Always so, so stupid.

You realize Coachella announcing artists before Primavera doesn't mean that they book artists before Primavera?

I am trying to figure out what Primavera thinks it gains by preventing GV from booking Television to Coachella. Other than my bitching about how bad the Coachella lineup sucks this year, that is.

Pretty sure Television are playing Big Ears Festival in Knoxville which is two weeks before Coachella. I don't think had anything to do with Primavera being an exclusive booking. Goldenvoice just blew it.
