Indian's From All Purity is a total behemoth of a metal record, perhaps not doing anything remarkably different than bands like Inter Arma and The Body did last year but continuing on in the same direction extremely well. Probably the best thing that I've heard this year along with that The Body/Haxan Cloak album.

Back in '09 when the last Thee Silver Mt. Zion album came out I remember really loving it musically but hating the vocals. Same thing this time around.

The new Cibo Matto record is really awesome. Lots of layers and sounds going on, this will be a fun one to replay a bunch in the coming months.

I couldn't even finish Cibo Matto's new album, sorry frank.I really do not get why there's any praise for it.Meanwhile I really enjoyed Cheatahs new album for being what it is.

Afterhours - Lowlife is a really mellow downtempo album running at 33 minutes that touches on some deep house and trip hop elements. It was made with the idea of the early morning after party/comedown in mind, and it's successful to that end. Nothing groundbreaking, just pleasant, mellow beats.

I really like the new Wild Beasts album. While it's more mellow than Smother I also think it's more beautiful, and I can still feel a groove in a lot of these songs. After one listen this morning, I was left practically salivating over the prospect of returning to these songs and gaining some further familiarity with them.

I fell in love with Angel Olsen's Burn Your Fire For No Witness instantly. I'd only listened to her Strange Cacti EP once in 2011, so this is my first real introduction to her. It's haunting.

Also, the Trust - Joyland is something everyone with a penchant for sexy goth synths needs to listen to immediately. It's just Robert Alfons solo for this output, and he was apparently influenced a bit by acid house while writing this. The sound he cultivates is impressive.

Can't stop listening to the new Cheatahs album.

Trust - Joyland is very good Guedita. Im not sure if it'll have the same lasting effect that TRST had with me, but I guess only time will tell.

I just got done listening to two very solid Modern Love releases: Jack Dice's Sip Paint EP, and New Brutalism by Rainer Veil. The former is experimental hip-hop while the latter is indebted to rave, and it's interesting to hear how those genres fit in with the aesthetic of the label.

After many listens to Sun Kil Moon's Benji, I agree with Chris's statement. There are some absolutely beautiful songs on there (Carissa, I Can't Live Without My Mother's Love), but with others the lyrics are sometimes very cringe-worthy. Yeah, I know Mark's songwriting on this album is very unconventional, but that doesn't change the fact. Pitchfork definitely overrated that one.

On my first listen Angel Oslen new album is an instant classic and her song "White Fire" is such a Leonard Cohen like song which Cara told me Angel's Pitchfork review said the same thing.

Since your review is so glowing I'll give it another chance, but on my first listen it seemed kind of irritating to me, mostly.

I am a big fan of the new Real Estate after one listen. I love this band and the new album just finds them doubling down on their best aspects, with lots of chiming guitar and ethereal vocals. Nothing is as immediate as the first half of Days, but the songs are all very solid. I can't wait to come back and give it some serious listening.

Your review lacked Leonard Cohen references.

Also, it was written by a woman.

The War on Drugs and Real Estate both delivered excellent albums to follow-up their breakthroughs. On initial listens neither record is as good as the heights of its immediate predecessor, and I suppose if you forced me to I will admit that neither record particularly moves the game forward for either band, but when guitar rock is this pleasurable, who really cares.

Springsteen will get thrown around a lot as a comparison for The War On Drugs, but I honestly hear more Dire Straits coming through on this one. Just a gorgeous record, one that I look forward getting lost to in the months to come.

Okay, time for Tomorrow's Hits to leak, and the week/month/year will be complete for me.

The War on Drugs' album was nice, but sort of got lost in the background for me. I enjoyed the Real Estate album quite a bit, though. It was just as beautiful, but managed to grab me a little more. I listened to both of those yesterday, along with the new James Vincent McMorrow which I also liked.

Goddamn, Burn Your Fire For No Witness by Angel Olsen is outstanding. I definitely heard some Leonard Cohen in there. I also felt there were some Nancy Sinatra, Hope Sandoval, and Bonnie "Prince" Billy types of sounds. The latter makes sense because I guess she played with Will Oldham at one point. This album is completely beautiful and haunting. I haven't started listing 2014 albums, but this may actually be my favorite of the year so far. I'm now motivated to explore the rest of her catalog.

I tried getting into that Angel Olsen record today - heck, I can even see the Cohen comparisons - but something about it is just off putting to me. Can't really put my finger on it.

I did listen to a new ambient record, "Continental Drift" by Faures, that I really enjoyed. I was kind of in a down mood and I've been listening to music with a lot of energy so it was nice to take a step back and sort of chill out to this album. It's probably one of my favorite things this year so far.

Came into here to say exactly that. The new Indian record is a beast, with really deep texturally brilliant guitar tones and over all sound. Mark Solotroff from Bloodyminded is pretty genius on this album. But that collab between noise and metal worked so well that it made me ecstatic to see the new Haxan Cloak/the Body album. And after hearing a few songs from that I'm certain it'll be pretty great.

Also completely different but I thought the Shy Boys album was one of the best things I've heard this year. It's like Diiv but with more Beach Boys-esque singing. If that's your vibe.

I also thought the new Guardian Alien release "Spiritual Emergency" was pretty nice. It's the drummer from liturgy apparently, but much more like avant garde samples and drumming. But it's a very relaxed/meditative listen. Get lost in dem drums.

And lastly the Blank Realm album "Grassed Inn" is very nice. The garage psych rock sound may be a little overplayed but this is more of a repetitive riffage/Kurt Vile esque side of things which tickles my pickle so I like it.
