I just finished the first of three meetings today to each shed 1/3 of my responsibilities and my employees to other people. I’ve accepted a new position, starting next Monday completely outside of finance and outside of the business units I’ve supported for the past eight years. As of last Friday, I hadn’t even known this opportunity existed yet. It’s scary how quick it’s all going down.
The empty desk next to me is being filled tomorrow! It'll be nice to have company again...
I've decided I hate my job so much I'm going to start studying for the LSAT so I can go to law school. Congratulations, universe.
why do you hate your job/why law school
9/12: Shifted @ Mercer
9/24 - 28: Decibel Festival
10/3-5: Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival
10/4: Ought @ BoH
10/5: The War on Drugs, Cass McCombs @ The Fillmore
10/18-19: Treasure Island Music Festival
Law school because I have always had a knack for formal logic, syllogisms, proofs, the like and possess what I consider great research, writing, public speaking, and debate skills. I also truly do believe that this country's criminal justice system is doing a huge disservice to disenfranchised/underrepresented cultures and would like to try and help remedy that.
TL;DR My boss wears her crazy pants and I'm good at sudoku.

I went to one of the most affordable schools in the country, received scholarship help, and I have had full, decent employment since I graduated. Apart from the small handful of people who start out with associate positions at top law firms (not something I ever wanted to do, or probably could have done even if I had wanted to), I am pretty much your best case scenario financially. And even given that, I will still be paying student loans for the next twenty years.
Read this book.
I work in government practice.
it's a trap Amy.
Also, people arguing around me about not meeting testing deadlines. Good times.
And....the roulette wheel for my new position landed in NYC. I'll be spending about 40% of my time in midtown Manhattan through at least September. Now, if only there was a comprehensive list of NY shows around here....
We have free nachos courtesy of our Latino ARG, but Monday is a big work from home day for the building. More nachos for me.
Chin up Marlo and make sure you save all your emails.
We have chips and salsa. Next year I'm going to bring five jars of mayo, and place them on the table.
