Anyone know anything about the Wild Honey Pie Party on Tuesday, the 12th at Side Bar? The So So Glos say they are playing a set there at 3pm, but I can't find an event page or RSVP info or anything. The So So Glos are pretty much at the top of the list of bands to see.

Also, I know the Sailor Jerry parties haven't been announced yet… but I was looking at the schedule from 2013 and it looks like all their parties, including the evening ones, are free. Is that true? If so, how early do you have to get there? Their line up's from last year were pretty ace.

In the past the Sailor parties have been free, but they do put a limit on the free booze. One year we went the first day and they said they capped the free booze (for all days) at about $5000. So from noon to about 2:30 people drank for free and then they cut it off. I've never had a problem getting into any of their shows.

I may have to cancel my sxsw plans altogether or only go Friday and Saturday. I was specifically asked to shorten my vacation during a teleconference by our customer for our critical design review in 2 weeks. If I skip sxsw, I will at least get to see St. Vincent in Dallas. Playing it by ear for now, but can only go 2 days if so.
I go to shows and festivals.

Sounds like nearly everyone has been denied fader access this year. They never closed it so everyone will get on their email list.

Nosaj Thing is doing something for SXSW interactive tonight. Are the interactive "shows" badge only? What else is going on tonight? Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks, No Age, and a few others are playing Mohawk.

I tried using rsvpster this year and found out that it's primary purpose seems to be missing RSVPs just for the parties that I might actually want to attend.

So, what is going on Thursday at SXSW? The only party I currently have on my schedule for Thursday is the Austin Party Weekend party w/ Fucked Up and Power Trip. Give me some suggestions.

This is incomplete, but what I have for Thursday so far. I haven't gotten to the showcases at night yet. I'm mostly going to check out bands I haven't seen before so I'll probably go to the New Shapes Party to see Wolf Alice, Jungle, Panama Wedding, Great Good Fine Ok, and Preatures or maybe the Pitchfork day party. The Stereogum and Thrasher parties have a lot of good bands you probably already have seen. The Brew Exchange lineup is really good if you are looking for a dance party. Same with the Binary Records Party at Javelina, but it's a small bar so there might not be much room for dancing. Ringo Deathstarr is a shoegaze Austin band that's pretty good. They are playing at Guero's, but it's not near downtown.

Justin Bieber showed up at Banger's Sausage House and Beer Garden. And Johnny Depp played with Willie Nelson somewhere, forgot where.

Woah! Danny Brown is doing the Red Bull show on the Saturday! That is killer. Anyone go to the Red Bull Events last year? How early did they fill up? I am hoping to see Jagwar Ma on Thursday and Danny Brown on Saturday.

$7500?! That can't be real. I wouldn't pay that much if it was Zeppelin.

Hakkasan is trying so hard to have SXSW jump the shark, and looks like they may succeed in their efforts to do so.

Sxsw jumped the shark years ago when they started selling badges to the general public.

    Oh yeah true.

Eric Kupper did make a prediction 12 years ago that SXSW will eventually turn into another "commercialized WMC", after all.
