Default MICHAEL NESMITH IS PLAYING STAGECOACH 2014!!!

I just saw that Michael Nesmith has been added to the Stagecoach Music Festival 2014 on Sunday. He would be a perfect crossover artist with Coachella, like what they did with Willie Nelson and Dwight Yoakam. The same thing goes for Don "American Pie" McLean. I've seen Papa Nez three times in the past 12 months in concert, and he nailed it every time. I'd love to see him added to Coachella 2014. A fantastic artist. A great storyteller.

The Seattle show I saw in March was great.

IMO, half a Nez show with possible sound bleed issues and no Monkees hits wouldn't go down well at Coachella.

Ditto Don. Stagecoach skews much older demo for better/worse.

OMG! How did you know hearing "Last Train to Clarksville" by a 70-year-old surviving Monkee in a 100+ degree tent was a dream come true? You really do have your finger on the pulse of what Coachella fans want.

The Peter Hook of pop rock.
    Whiskey Sour

    2 oz blended whiskey
    Juice of 1/2 lemon
    1/2 tsp powdered sugar
    1 cherry
    1/2 slice lemon

Shake blended whiskey, juice of lemon, and powdered sugar with ice and strain into a whiskey sour glass. Decorate with the half-slice of lemon, top with the cherry, and serve.

I would politely beg to differ with regards to the implication that Papa Nez is "too old" to play Coachella. Leonard Cohen did, and he's hella-lot older than Nesmith. Ditto for Paul McCartney. So, I can't see where age would have a factor. For the record, Nesmith's solo shows have never included "Last Train To Clarksville". He concentrates on his own, post-Monkee solo material. The only two Monkees tunes I can think of that he's done on his solo outings are "Papa Gene's Blues" and "Listen to the Band". A Michael Nesmith solo experience is not the same as a Monkees experience...totally different vibe.

Stagecoach also has less sound bleed and us old-timers love to hear great stories. After all, we are sitting in our lawn chairs.

Michael Nesmith's mother invented Liquid Paper.

In 1951, Bette Nesmith Graham invented the first correction fluid in her kitchen. Working as a typist, she used to make many mistakes and always strived for a way to correct them. Starting on a basis of tempera paint she mixed with a common kitchen blender, she called the outcome fluid Mistake Out and started to provide her co-workers with small green bottles on which the brand's name was displayed.

By 1956, Graham founded the Mistake Out Company and continued working from her kitchen nights and weekends to produce small batches of correction bottles. She was fired from her typist job after she made a mistake that she did not manage to correct. She had typed in her company name instead of the bank's. After this stroke of bad luck, she decided to devote her time to her new company.

The inventor offered the product to IBM, which declined the offer. She sold the product from her house for 17 years; the name was changed to Liquid Paper shortly after. By 1968, the product was profitable, and in 1979 the Liquid Paper Corporation was sold to the Gillette Corporation for $47.5 million with royalties.

In 2000, Liquid Paper was acquired by Newell Rubbermaid. In some regions of the world, Liquid Paper is now endorsed by Papermate, a widely known writing instruments brand (also owned by Newell Rubbermaid).

Graham's son Mike Nesmith, guitarist/singer in the popular 1960s pop band The Monkees, was the primary heir to her fortune upon her death in 1980.

I have one of his early 70s country rock albums. Umm ... Magnetic South. We'll play it next time you're over.

I said nothing about HIS age.

The Nez show I attended had a fairly unanimous naturally grey haired crowd.

Lenny and Paul have several generations of fans buying their own tickets.

Well, Papa Nez has several generations of fans buying their own ticket, too. Check all of his sold out shows on his current tour. Even the Meet-And-Greets with Michael after the show at $100.00 a pop are sold out, for the most part. When I saw him twice over the past year, there were people of all ages there, from "little kids" (6, 7 years old) to "old farts". The audience sang along with several of his numbers, i.e. "Papa Gene's Blues, "JoAnne", "Silver Moon", "Lucy & Ramona & Sunset Sam"....it's not like he's a total unknown, but I will agree--as a solo artist--he's more of a "cult" figure. That said, he'd be a good crossover for Coachella. But that's my opinion, and opinions are like KNVTY and gaypalmsprings. Yes, his Mother did invent Liquid Paper but I don't see the connection to how he performs as a musician. He also "invented" MTV, for what that's worth.

Those Meet & Greets are 25 per show.

The show I saw was 600 in an 800 capacity venue, 90% of which could have watch the tv when it originally aired in the 60's. The rest were kids dragged along and a couple fans they picked up in the 80's.

Even many of the "30+ only" fans at Coachella performances like B.A.D. and Squeeze would likely give Nez Coachell a pass.

Hummm, I could have sworn that there were more than 25 patrons at the meet-and-great. Mike is wrapping up his current U.S. tour to sold-out crowds, and the sold-out crowds are more than just a few hundred people. He doesn't do "Monkees" songs with the exception of "Papa Gene's Blues" and "Listen to the Band". He does play his radio hits "Joanne," "Silver Moon" and "Nevada Fighter" as well as his MTV video hits including, "Sunset Sam". There are lots of deep cuts he plays, including "Grand Ennui" and "Propinquity". Yes, he tells stories sort of, as he introduces the songs before he plays them. But Ian Anderson (of Jethro Tull) and so many other "rock" artists do the very same thing. Then, you have artists like Eddie Vedder giving a political lecture before Pearl Jam songs, so what's the difference? If Dwight Yaokam could play Coachella, so could Papa Nez. Same kind of audience draw.
