birdie, honey, if you can survive this board, you can survive any social situation thrown at you (no matter how fucked).

    now, is your boyfriend hot?

The difference is, this is just a board. Not everyone has the same confidence in real life as they do hiding behind some name and avatar.

B I am the oldest person on this board, maybe (gps?). If you can survive this board you can do anything. I post on other boards that this one is the most sincere and toughest. Good luck and I think you can do it imo but it's not a walk in the park... cr****

I think it's thickened a bit in the last couple months. I learned a little that it's better to just hold my tongue on here sometimes...

My boy is BEAUTIFUL. Not your standard "hot", but his babyface blew me away when I first met him in person.
He put on a little weight after college, and now he's down 30 lbs. So proud of him. <3

edit: not to mention, I've become active in my local Couchsurfing community. Meeting a lot of great people.... mostly guys though, because they just want to meet girls. Damnit.

Seriously, you do that Couchsurfing crap where people come and stay at your place for free?

Your boyfriend is okay with that?

Or are you just going to local events and meeting people at those?

Still, it's pretty obvious that those meet-ups are thinly disguised dating events.

To be honest, you really shouldn't be breaking your social awkwardness through events with dating overtones, unless you're planning upon actually dating through them. It just leads people on, and the "friendships" you acquire through them will usually just be guys waiting for your inevitable breakup so they can spring themselves upon you.

I don't sleep on couches or let people sleep on mine. I don't have the time or space to do so.

I go for the Taco Tuesdays, bike rides, bar nights, etc.
And not everyone is single. It's just nice meeting people with a clean slate and something in common: wanting to travel and/or meet new people.

BF is VERY supportive. He's satisfied with his almost non-existent social life, so I have to put extra effort into mine. He's very proud of my efforts.

    Now you are contradicting yourself.

You said earlier that it's too bad most of them are there to meet girls.

Now you're saying it's nice to meet new people who have purely social motives.

If 8 out of 10 people are dudes looking to meet chicks, and the other 2 are just there to make friends, it's not really the best environment for you. But I suppose if you're enjoying it, there's no harm doing it. Just avoid making single male friends (or taken males who might be unhappy in their relationship).

BTW, any married/taken person showing up at social events to meet random people, without their significant other, is probably looking to either cheat or break up soon, even if they don't realize it yet.
