To Classic Or Not

So for anyone who's been floating around this wasteland for a while you know that I'm a major Land Rover enthusiast. My current safari wagon is a 1998 Disco(very), last year of the fabulous series 1 that looks a lot like this cartoon:



Mines got a better bar though. Anyways, a very charming 1970 series III has appeared for sale straight out of 1970 and I'm considering going classic. Everything is original except for the Webber carb which everyone changed out all the way back to the 70s and two extra gas tanks this owner put in. Even the original radio still works. I'm having a hard time resisting as it gets me a no road compromise rover without having to buy a Defender (good luck $) plus it's so damn charming. See for your self:




So the question is, do I keep my AC, electric amenities, and dual sunroofs or do I go classic?

Why not keep the one you have and buy the classic?

I'd like to drop some cash into the classic, get it up higher with softer suspension and some meatier tires, get some protection on the under carriage, add a snorkel, etc.

No way I'll paint it, that's a big part of the charm. If I wanted it to look new I'd keep my Disco.

I used to have one of those-loved it-miss it-look at them longingly,
but now I drive a Honda Insight.
Whenever I go to Kenya, there are so many of those cool classics
that I want to bring home with me.
