Interesting... wonder what they're gonna do about the road and the palms trees behind where the outdoor stage has been before this expansion.

As long as no more stages are being added, I'm down for more space.
And yes, relocate the DoLab... I'd say put it where Yuma was, but then again, that's where the food court was.
Some have said move it to the campgrounds; yep, changed my mind.

no one goes to the do lab for the "artists", and I use that term loosely. they go there for the mist! why not just make it a mist mansion

Esssactly! I pity the people who are there for the "artists".
    More super soakers!

Same goes for the Heineken Dome. ???? The A/C is nice though, don't get me wrong.

they should put the do lab where the main stage is. that and make it ten times bigger. and then they could add like 8 smaller do labs all over the field. admission is to bring a super soaker.

God bless you, sir, for being able to name a Do-lab artist.

You should win a lifetime pass to the Do-lab.

I miss the dome from 2007. One of my favorite installations ever, sound bleed was pretty controlled, good DJs who weren't all bass heavy, and no acrobat bullshit

I would say put the do lab in the campgrounds and put the dome back on the fields, but that would mean the do lab would still exist. no mas do lab.

The Dome should have Thursday night camper-only significance, and should be a part of the weekend. The Do Lab should just be moved away from the tents, around where the Tesla coils were this year. As cool as the coils are, I hope they don't return for a couple years. Appreciation.

I'm glad you feel that way, because The Stone Roses/ Blur, Phoenix, and The Red Hot Chili Peppers are going to return to headline both weekends of 2014. Your acceptance of the same exhibit every year makes this move MUCH easier. Whew.

You missed the point, unsurprisingly. Coachella will bring the Do Lab back every year, among other things that could easily be removed, but they have a thing going that changes just enough each year, while still pretty much keeping with tradition. Tesla coils can come back next year, but they shouldn't. The next thing you know, Coachella is, "The place with the Tesla coils, and some music," instead of being a Music and Arts Festival. Don't wear out a good thing. Patience isn't a virtue, it's a pleasure.

Two in the past five or so years, and the festival did just fine without them. They take up too much space. The more interactive exhibits/ shade structures/ light displays seem to utilize space much better. I appreciate exhibits with fences around them much less. This is part of why I don't care for the Main stage as much as other stages at Coachella as far as crowd access/ layout is concerned. The Do Lab has fences at the back of the stage, but it creates a lot of shade, cools people down with water, and collects a fair number of drugged weirdos as the day drags on. Very cool.

Nothing like two huge steaming coils fenced in right in the middle of the festival.

IDK, where do you think they'll go, Bumbles?

I imagine that Coachella won't think about it at all, and people will just start abandoning their cars somewhere on Jefferson St.

I did not like the snail. there I said it.. fuck that thing
it moves around and forces attendees to get out of the way... fuck that shit I want a ride if it moves
if not, stay put and out of our way! I don't want to be moved because of your "art" made out of UPS boxes and a fork lift!
if something moves around it should serve a purpose... it would be cool if the trex moved and picked up trash.

the tesla coils are great!! put them on a hill to be observed and not in the middle where everyone wishes they could cut across.

    moar shade!

and parachute delivered beer! im tired of not being able to drink in front of an artist! the fuck hipster California festival!?

again, mist mansion shade structure with screens of all stages in place of doo lab, would be mega tits galore

No beer outside of the gardens. This isn't Stagecoast, mah' dawg. Indoor screen of all stages sounds pretty awesome, like something they would offer VIP (though the logistics of audio sort of makes the idea stupid. This isn't the race track, afterall). Tesla Coils out of the way, but present is a good idea. I liked the snail, so fuck you, but I see where you're going with the idea, so you're still cool. The snail could have been done better, but was a pretty awesome idea, so let's keep criticism constructive.

snail sucked. waste of space. when you can get the full effect of something like that by viewing a picture than it is inadequate.
seriously what was the point? were we expected to follow it around?
worst art installation ive ever seen there.
