    Default Music Needs New Stars

hey everybody.. new on the boards.. love to just watch from a distance but finally decided to join..

i just was thinking how badly music needs new stars.. especially in the world of bands/rock/pop/etc.. Since coldplay/killers/black keys/strokes era there hasnt really been a new band that his risen up to take the place of just superstardom.. imagine dragons has potential to do that but i feel like they're more pop than the traditional sound that bands like coldplay and the killers had..

I dont know just thought i'd put this out there-

Even in urban/r&b/hip hop feels like there needs to be new stars.. Around grammys this past year everybody was jumping on this frank ocean bandwagon but i feel like it wasnt because of the music it was just because of the need for a new 'star'.. he didnt really fulfill that need unfortunately and we're back to having the same stars in that landscape (chris brown, john legend, etc.)..

I dont know just a thought..

is it because of the internet age? is there so much saturation and so much good music out there that now everybody rises up to a level of relative success that leaves them short of superstardom?

and keep in mind i ask that question LOVING alot of the new acts that are rising up right now and making great music
    i.e.

Chvrches, the neighborhoud, haerts, sir sly, the mowglis, dan croll, kat dahlia, matt corby, etc.

i just am afraid that they will always be doomed to this level of upper indie success and never transcend to where they can be considered arena or even (stadium) touring acts

Coldplay, the killers and black keys suck. You have a poor grasp on what pop music is and isn't. No one knows how to respond to your post because it comes from a radically less informed place than most everyone here.

You do have a point about the internet. The web has certainly fragmented and decentralized all media, art etc. I think there were some good discussions here about that if I can find them.

Oh man I hope I didn't come off as and ass hole. I myself am less informed than most people here.

Killers have a very traditional pop sound. And none of those bands you mentioned are stadium bands.

Its a pretty magical thing to coordinate like minded people together in a room that have a goal and love to write ,rehearse, perform and juggle personal lives. As time has elapses & technology progresses along with the appreciation for solo produced composition and performance we will see less bands across the spectrum. Arena pop rock is for the masses not for true heads . These megalith acts you are wondering about coming up have major labels and truckloads of cash promoting them to put them in the arena for the masses. Its all up to a bunch of suits and ties behind a desk determining what your going to listen to on the radio while your shopping.

    Whiskey Sour

    2 oz blended whiskey
    Juice of 1/2 lemon
    1/2 tsp powdered sugar
    1 cherry
    1/2 slice lemon

Shake blended whiskey, juice of lemon, and powdered sugar with ice and strain into a whiskey sour glass. Decorate with the half-slice of lemon, top with the cherry, and serve.
