Well, people driving from Utah might pass the Grand Canyon on their way to Scottsdale. I guess this is geared toward Utah music fans. Who like to drive.

Is this gonna be one of those things where gullible 20 year olds fork over $$$ to stand outside and listen to a succession of overprivileged hipsters play bad records on a record player?

After delaying their lineup announcement until this week, tomorrow is supposed to be the "big" reveal. Expecting disappointment, hoping to be proven wrong.

That's actually better than I expected, I was thinking it would be a bunch of Skrillex wannabes.

Surprisingly not completely disappointed. Pretty solid range of music. Hopefully they can bring a few more solid names, it's a ways away from "one day will change everything"

    Edit:

Aaaand then I look at their ticketing/stage layout. Wtf is this...VIP section right in front of the stage, then a little "Premium GA" spot just behind the VIP, and then regular GA behind all of that. I want to like this festival, I really do, but they're making it difficult. http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/19004B13D8B3491D

Also, $146 for presales? Not sure if the regular GA sale will be cheaper, but that's pretty high for 1 day.

Agreed and considering The Flaming Lips haven't played here since that MMMF, this might actually be worth attending. Maybe...I haven't looked into this at all until now. I just welcome The Flaming Lips playing the Phoenix area.

That and the diversity of having rock, hip hop and EDM artists with just a few names announced thus far.

You guys are taking their advertising slogan a bit too seriously. Of course they are going to hype it by using an over the top slogan like "one day that will change everything".

edited to add $146 is definitely high.

I think it is an error with ticketmaster, from what I read pre-sales are $60

That would be much more doable. $146 seemed a little crazy for a brand new festival

    Via their facebook:

"We apologize for any confusion folks. Due to incredibly high demand and traffic on our ticketing site the $60 Pre-Sale tickets are displaying at our VIP pricing. This will be addressed momentarily!"

Ticketmaster lists two prices, $146 and $70. I would assume those are the prices for VIP and GA, respectively.

That map does look terrible. VIP with what appears to be a large section in front of the stage then premium GA behind that. Then the rest of us suckers in the back?

I'm showing total cost $70.75 w/free print at home.

That's what it looks like. That might just be the main stage, but still, do we really need 3 different levels of ticketing?

Their description of the regular GA is "Enjoy True Music from the heart of the crowd, in the middle of thousands of people, and lose yourself in the experience!" Sounds about right haha, stuck in the mid/back no matter what

The Flaming Lips, Capital Cities and Lord Huron all made my interest level increase. I may consider this. I doubt it sells out, so I'll wait a few months before making any decision.

Yeah. I'm sure it's the traffic that's messing things up, and not just a Ticketmaster input error.

Arizona: where getting a band that would play the opening of an envelope is exciting.

Tickets are on Groupon today for $73. It is a package that includes better parking and entrance and a $20 merch credit.

If I knew what was on the lineup, this might be worth buying.
This ain't no middle of the mall shit.
