I'm resurrecting this thread! My wife and I got tickets last week! So many good acts with more "mystery guests" to be announced. Personally I can't wait to see The Mighty Boosh, but I also want to see almost everybody on the bill so there will be mega-conflicts for sure! Anyone else going?

Tim and Eric along with Adam Sandler both getting less than half an hour is kinda odd.

Yeah seriously. My brothers wedding is this weekend so I obviously can't attend this but if it wasn't and I did I would pissed off about some of these set times. Patton Oswalt for 15 minutes are you kidding me? He deserves more then that.

I do wish Coachella would add a comedy tent or at least make that new tent (forgetting the name) early afternoon dedicated to comedy.

That one man tent sounds hilarious. A tent with room for 1 person in the crowd. Can't imagine the line for that.

They're also saying the surprise guest(s) will most likely remain unannounced (not on the poster) and will appear at the end of the night, although it's hard to say which stage they'll be at.

Tim Minchin had to cancel because of visa issues.

He said on his website to save the ticket for possible make up show.

Some of the set times surprised me too, but if you've ever been to a comedy show at the UCB, or places like that, they'll usually cram 5 or 6 comedians into an hour slot (I've seen Sarah Silverman, Patton Oswalt, Zach Galifianakis there before). 15 minutes doesn't sound like a long time, but it at least gives them a tight set and then you move on to somebody else.

This is a good point, except at UCB you're paying $5 and here you're paying $100

Mighty Boosh and Mr. Show reunions along with the hour long set from Galifianakis take care of that $100 straight away, this fest is a fucking bargain.

I agree. I'm going mostly for Mighty Boosh and Mr. Show because I've seen a lot of these other comics before, but I'll still get a full day of entertainment. I wonder who the mega surprise guests are supposed to be.

    Special guests I saw:

    Billy Idol during Eric Idle

Conan O'Brien and Megan Mullally during Triumph

    Lonley Island during Tenacious D.

Kyle and Jack were talking about how they got all the comedic bands in the universe and then Kyle said, well, we didn't get one, Lonley Island and then Jack said, "Yeah they're whacked" and then suddenly the lighting changed and they emerged from the side rapping, "Who says were whacked, they're gonna get slapped..".

And then they tried to leave and Jack tricked them to stay and they did some songs together. They did "Jack Sparrow" and Jack Black sang the Michael Bolton part.

And they did "I'm on a boat" with Tenacious D.

And they did several other songs together.

    It was entertaining.

That actually sounds really, really awesome. "I'm On A Boat" must have been especially fun.

The crowd was fine, the main problem was the logisitcs, the wait to get in the festival was so slow and the 2 main stages across from each other were fine but Club Intmacy was a pain to get to because you had to leave the festival grounds and it was tiny.

The crowd was cool, I talked to a lot of super nice people.

Triumph the Insult comic dog was soooooo damn funny, Conan O'brien came out and scolded him for being too disgusting and Megan Mullhally came out and told Triumph he was too negative so he did a song called, "Nobody sucks", so hilarious with lines like, "Miley Cyrus won't be dead in 10 years" and "Kanye makes great choices in baby mamas, Kim's had more black guys in her than a botswani soccer stadium".

Eric Idle was fun too doing all his classic songs and it was funny when they announced him and Billy Idol came out and starting singing the Lumberjack song and Eric shows up and says, "What the hell are you doing?"

Adam Sandler wrote a hilarious song about Halloween about visting 12th houses on Halloween and what you got at each one, and hilariously the last one was, "And at the 12 house on Halloween Adam Sandler gave to me, 12 razzie awards".

All in all it was fun.

I can tell you one thing, the coachella of comedy it was not. Coachella's level of production far exceeded festival supreme's in every way.

Mr. Show was absolutely ruined by audio problems. It cast a shadow over the entire experience. All day the schedule was messed up with most acts starting late and ending late. I was very disappointed that most of the sets ran for half an hour, but a few as short as 15 minutes for Patton Oswalt and 10 minutes for Zach Galifianakis. It seemed like there was too much focus by artists to be impressive musically and less so comedically which was the point of differentiation with regular festivals.

The sets were short but I excpected that, that was posted somewhere in advance (don't recall where I read it) so I was ready for that and yes the sound was terrible but I expected that because the sound has had problems no matter what I see on the pier, All Hands on Deck, Way over Yonder, Twilight Dance Series, etc.

Luckily I got close for everything including Mister Show so I could hear everything but the sound in general was very bad and they didn't make it loud enough and the speakers weren't placed correctly so if you were too far away the sound would actually echo off the wood acoustics of the pier and you would get multiple copies of the same sound making it impossible to hear if you weren't close.

And yes there was a greater emphsis on musically comedy, I think that was because Tenacious D was presenting the festival and I think they enouraged it.

The Mighty Boosh was amazing, especially since I'd never seen them before... I felt bad for Mr. Show. My wife and I were pretty close to the front and you could hardly hear a thing. Even when the main stage performers (Adam Sandler, Tim and Eric) WEREN'T on, their mics were barely above a whisper at times. We saw some good sets including Fred Armisen and Reggie Watts but would have loved to have seen more.

The Santa Monica Pier was way too small for a festival like this, especially since it sold out at supposedly 8,000 people. Hopefully they move it to a bigger venue next year!
