The cancellation fee for the house is $200 but we would get the rest back :/ I doubt this is true either.

Reid - Adam and I are planning to go.

What a bummer, I hope this is not true. Planning to go weekend 2, hopefully this means I can grab a cheap ticket!

I hope that the house you rented is lenient about your cancellation being linked to the festival not happening. And....you should come to SF for Sigha/Marcel Fengler that weekend instead!

Well now we know what happens when you don't have pop acts on a bill . Lineup was so good .

The blog post blames the dates, but I think it's very safe to say that it was the "weaker" headliners that really did it in. Casual festival goers won't go for Soundgarden, Kraftwerk and New Order.

That being said... I really hope they bring Kraftwerk to Memorial Day weekend now, as I'll be in attendance and have to miss out on the Oakland shows.

Or schedule a new music festival over the biggest summer vacation weekend of the year, and only six weeks after you held another festival at the same location (which by the way is in the middle of nowhere).

I don't think it can solely be blamed on weak headliners. Trying to get a large chunk of your demographic of festival goers to shell out the money for TWO festivals, with the second one being 6 weeks after the first is asking a lot, especially considering how young most of the people who go to Sasquatch are to begin with. Sasquatch hasn't ever been primarily a destination festival, which hurts the chances of weekend 2 being successful on that alone as well.

Its just crazy since the capacity is only 25,000 or so, right? You would think that would be an easy number to get to. There were a ton of really good acts on that bill. Hopefully for you guys they will be playing replacement shows in the Pac Northwest. I'm hoping some of those acts make their way down to SF that weekend as well.

I feel bad for Al&Mel, but like others have said there are a ton of fun things to do in Seattle and Portland that weekend. You can do some amazing hikes in the Columbia River Gorge as well.

Have you seen the past "headliners? Even the promoter went to great lengths to call them "closers" rather than headliners

Evening shows in the middle of summer is one thing, but spending 3 days in a row in a very hot climate isn't fun. I did an all day festival there in August and it mildly unpleasant. A friend did Rush the first week of July and told it's crazy hot.

This has to be the biggest festival Live Nation has cancelled in North America due to sales.

This is up there with the cancelled travelling Lollapalooza national tour in 2004. HOB was behind that.

Organizers really shit the bed on this. Prob won't ever do this festival now. I've heard great things about the location but bad stuff about its organization, food, and camping. Now with this...well... fuck these fucks.

Lots of cool shows in the area that week and looks like a ton more will be announced in Seattle.

Well I'm pretty fucking crushed. I knew sales would not be great for July since a lot of the usual Sasquatch crowd doesn't give a shit about the headliners, but I never expected them to actually cancel it.

I'm really curious how many tickets they actually sold.

I'm curious, too. It just seems like they were asking a LOT of the Sasquatch crowd to want a sizable chunk of them to attend both festivals. If weekend 2 had an act that had a huge pull of people that would travel like...Dave Matthews Band, it might have had more of a chance.

Step 1: Add up the average ages of the fans of the 3 "headliners."

Step 2: Attempt to contain laughter.

Yeah I thought the two weekend thing was a bad idea from the get go since there has never been a huge demand for Sasquatch tickets, save for last year, and that was only because of Mumford and Co.

It seemed like they were trying to appeal to a different demographic than usual with the July lineup, and even though I loved it, it seems like the Sasquatch going public did not.

A baseless rumour was that Prince was supposed to be on the July lineup but dropped last minute. Would have been interesting to see how things played out if that actually happened.

Damn. The Gorge will have to wait for another time. I thought the lineup was really good. Different then what other festivals are putting out there but different doesn't move tickets.

There's usually a couple decent sized festival that go down every year in the UK.

I think some American EDM festivals had issues with locations or permits.

I can't think of a North American destination festival of note in recent memory that posted a full lineup and cancelled because of ticket sales.
