Very Cool. I wonder if they will have two completely different vibes? Or same vibe, just 2 different weekends.

Completely different lineups sounds extremely lame actually.

Also, booking two different lineups seems like a potential nightmare.

EDIT: Just realized the dates are over a month apart. Still, seems odd to me.

Sounds like there is enough demand from the northwest for two weekends. I'd want to see the quality of the lineups.

If there's no repeats, and Sasquatch still maintains over 115 acts per weekend, that's over 230+ unique bookings.. The overall quality would have to be watered down, unless they seperate the genres.

    Disclosure - October 12 - Reno, NV.
Treasure Island Music Festival - October 19 - San Francisco, CA.
Portugal, The Man - October 22 - Reno, NV.

Damn, I was finally planning on making it next year. Now I have to pick which weekend and hope for a lineup more in my favor. Most people purchase pre-sales before a lineup right?

That and with the gap, the first one will probably be announced before the second.

This sounds intriguing, but I have my doubts. Quality over quantity.

I think ACL has proven that the two weekend option isn't something every festival can do. I don't anticipate this being successful.

    October 23 - 26 - Housecore Horror Festival
    October 29 - The Melvins
November 7-9 - Fun Fun Fun Fest
    November 18 - Slayer
    November 19 - eyehategod
    January 31 - Mayhem/Watain

This is a terrible idea. They have one festival with huge demand and now they think they are Coachella. 2012 didn't sell out for months.

They would have to announce the lineups at the same time, and if they are reasonable equal in quality I don't see either one selling out very fast, if at all.

Until the lineups are announced, I think it's too early to say it's a bad idea. Also, I'm glad to see that each one is back to 3 days instead of 4. Hopefully that will bring the price down, but most likely not.

    Fuck this shit.

    Fuck. This. Shit.

I went to Sasquatch for the first time because Coachella announced dual weekends and I said fuck this shit. I ended up discovering the best festival experience of my life. Now they go and fuck it up. Fuck this shit.

I don't understand the negative reactions to this. It's now essentially two completely different festivals that happen at the Gorge a month and a half apart from one another. This year sold out pretty fast, if I recall, so they obviously see the opportunity to put on another one later in the summer. It also allows them to sync up with different tour schedules/availability of artists at different times of the festival season.

I wouldn't say there's a specific problem with this so much (I don't think it will "ruin" Sasquatch or anything like that) as it is a part of the larger trend of festival over-saturation.

I'm curious what their plan will be in 2015 when the 4th doesn't conveniently fall on a Friday. Memorial Day weekend always works since it creates a three day weekend every year, but after next year that won't work for the 4th of July.

If they go to three day weekends around the 4th, it won't matter. Coachella and most other fests are never on regularly-scheduled three day weekends.

Sure, the number of festivals seems to get crazier every year but for those who live in the northwest this is the only major event of this type that's (relatively) easily accessible. I'm sure they looked at the sales data for this year's festival and figured it was worth the gamble to try it again later in the summer when people will be looking for something else to go to.

Don't most companyes give the Friday or the Monday when the 4th falls on a weekend? Every job with holidays I have ever worked at does that. The only real issue is when it lands on a Wednesday.

They are reducing the day from 4 to 3. Still it is a valid point.

My gripe is that it has been reduced from four days to three days and that throwing two festivals will affect the overall quality.

Same can be said for Ultra too.

But didn't ultra sell out both weekends? I think the city cancelled the future of a second weekend for them.

Why not just wait and see instead of getting those panties all bunched up?

I guess this solves the problem of Primavera and Sasquatch poaching each others acts.

Both are on long weekends. Plus unique lineups 6 weeks a part mean more double dippers.

If they go double weekends in 2015 that is 12 unique "headliners" over 2 years. In 2011/2012/2013 they had 12 unique headliners since each year was 4 days. It means they might have the challenge of booking upwards of 24 top level acts over 5 years to play their out of the way festival on a certain holiday weekend.

Can't wait for Neko Case or Metric to "headline".

I am kind of glad things are going back to three days. Camping for 5 nights(for those who come Thursday to get a good spot) is way too long! We will have to see how the lineup unfolds.

Because they cut it back to three days. Thus panties are already bunched.
