2,000 NIN or Timberlake fans SITTING near the main stage while Replacements fans get their truncated 50 subheadlining minute set.

    Sounds like a great idea

So, pretty much exactly what happened during Nick Cave's phenomenal set this year. Your point?

Yeah, I'm thinking if they play, The Replacements play the outdoor theatre.

GV used to give subs 60-70 minute sets. In 2013 none of the subs got more than 50 minutes(not sure on EDM acts)

Why would a fan of the Replacements want to see a show that's 40 minutes shorter that what they get at other festival? And surrounded by disrespectful fans?

(do GV make acts sign promises they won't slander other acts?)

If you are going to use numbers get them right. From http://www.startribune.com/entertain...211470321.html

They will have about an hour to fill at each fest, with 15 minutes or so wiggle room for an encore.
So they will have somewhere between 50 and 75 minutes to play, not the 90 minutes you quote. Also, it seems likely that they would close out Outdoor or Mojave so why wouldn't the mats get somewhere near the 70 minutes Sigur Ros got or the 85 minutes New Order got. This would put them at or above the time they will have at Riot Fest.

The Mats quote could mean an 85 minute time slot. I could see the Mats being picky on billing/stages which would more likely than not mean a set that its easily 25 minutes that what the 'Mats would play at another festival between now and April.

OFFICIALLY, Sigur had a 60 minute slot and New Order was given a 70 minute time slot.
    http://www.coachella.com/lineup.

Coachella used to give acts like the Verve and MBV 70 minutes on the main stage. In 2013, no one got more than 50 minutes on main/outdoor except top liners and Sigur Ros. The YYYs got 60 minutes in 2009 and 50 minutes in 2013.

Haven't seen them for 25 years. They put out the best album of the 80's (Tim). I'll take a "truncated" set (As long as they play The Ledge, Lay It Down Clown and Here Comes a Regular, of course).

Tim isn't even one of their top 2 albums, and Husker Du, The Minutemen, Black Flag, Prince and Big Black all put out better or comparable albums. Which is to say that the Replacements were awesome, put out great records, but c'mon man.

And they'd better play Answering Machine, Here Comes a Regular, I Can't Wait, Unsatisfied, etc, etc, etc. Great fucking band, but man, the 80s were full of them in the underground scene.

I think we need to continue this discussion over a beer or two next year. I'd throw Murmur, Boy, Los Angeles, Avalon, Ghosts in the Machine, How Will the Wolf Survive, Skylarking, Pretenders I into the mix though. You might've been a little more hardcore than me back in the day, which explains Minutemen and Husker Du (and, I suspect, Let It Be).
