Frankenstein Girls is an amazing album. It is like being in the mind of a psycho crack addict who is having a seizure. This new one too glossy for me, but I still dig it at times.

Yeah. They were in a band called the Diffs back in high school. They were definitely NOT very good. I saw them open for the Adicts and it was hilarious because they were all so young, but man we wanted them to end.

This is exactly how myself and basically everyone who saw FIDLAR open for Anamanaguchi at the Troubadour felt. Of course, weird pairing, but damn did they suck.

Fuck It Dog Life's A Risk are an obnoxious group. To each their own, I guess. I just prefer to cross my arms, stand still, and nod my head at shows.

I feel like I should also note here that "FIDLAR" (for the uninitiated, an acronym for "Fuck It Dawg, Life's A Risk" as well as the namesake for the band) has become my new catch phrase.

When I saw FIDLAR opening up for The Hives last year, the band came onstage and the first thing the lead singer said was "We're a band called FIDLAR. It stands for 'Fuck It Dawg, Life's A Risk." Yes, its the worst band name ever. So what. Fuck You." And the band proceeded to play "Cheap Beer." Needless to say, I was hooked from the get go.

I saw the singer of MSI get clobbered with a shoe while on stage. Then the entire crowd proceeded to turn around and face the opposite direction of the stage. Great show to say the least.

Lately the only two albums I have been putting a lot is Bloodgroup's Tracing Echoes and Deerhunter's Monomania. Bondax's XLR8R and Simian Mobile Disco LWE for music podcasts.

Yeah, I mean Paul has no frame of reference for that, but comparing seeing The Diffs in 2004, when the average age of the band was 13 to Fidlar now is just ridiculous. The Diffs were, I'll give them this, a totally ridiculous spectacle of old-school hardcore punk, as it was played by kids.

It's not that far off. I'd say the halfway point is mid-June since hardly anything gets released in December.

The halfway point is February, since we're all music nerds and start making our "best of" lists by then anyway. Embrace the geek.

Um, no? It's been pretty well established that I can barely count. And to nitpick, you can't really insult someone's reading comprehension for, you know, starting a thread. I'm genuinely interested in people's music interests here and avoid lambasting people unnecessarily when there's an actual discussion of that going on. Oh, and the first thread of this nature that I remember participating in was started by Drinkey in 2011 on May 31st. So suck it, you tall fuck.

I listened to that FIDLAR song. I don't get it at all, but congrats to those you able to embrace your inner 13 year old with shitty taste.

I would check out Blood Drive by ASG. It's on the more accessible side of southern doom metal and fits nicely in between The Sword and Baroness in terms of sound.

Kvelertak's album is full of fun rock anthem-y stuff, reminds me more of Fucked Up than those bands, but I'd recommend you check them out. One not from this year, but that I think you'd love based on those bands, is Royal Thunder - CVI. Fantastic female vocalist and some great songs.

Windhand is going to put out an album later this year and I bet that'll be right up your alley as well. Also, Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats new one will hit the sweet spot.
