Default A question for you veterans...

Has a band ever played two years running?

My favourite band played this year, I know they probably won't next year but a girl can dream, right?

The Black Keys played both 2011 and 2012.

Hot Chip, MIA, and Sleigh Bells have all played back to back years as well recently...but other than Hot Chip, who one posted wittily describe last month as "The Coachella House Band," there's usually a clear reason for it...in Sleigh Bells case, they caught a band the first year right before they blew up, MIA was a late add to the second line Undercard when Amy Winehouse dropped out, and Black Keys, I believe, were a fall back headliner as RHCPs were this year when primary target fell through.

In this era of copious side projects, you also see individual performers return back to back years in various guises...for example, Justin Vernon is rumored to be on a mission to play as many years straight as Paul Tollett will allow, but in various capacities...Gayngs and backing up Kanye vocally in '11, sub-heading with Bon Iver in '12, Shouting Matches this last year, and my guess Volcano Choir or guest vocals with Anais Mitchell in '14, and then a headlining Bon Iver stint in 2015.

Perry Farrell also had a long stretch of back to back performances in the earlier years.
The Replacements - Bryan Ferry - Outkast - The Knife - Dum Dum Girls - Jon Spencer Blues Explosion - Broken Bells - Haim - Neko Case - Jagwar Ma - Goat - Waxahatchee

Queens Of The Stone Age - Pet Shop Boys - Chvrches - Mogwai - Warpaint - Washed Out - Future Islands - Ty Seagall - Darkside - Foxygen

Beck - Neutral Milk Hotel - Superchunk - Arcade Fire - Bombino - Daughter - Surfer Blood

this happens plenty. There was lots of overlap between 02 and 03 - mars volta, queens of the stone age, jack johnson. groove armada if you don't count the difference between dj set and live. bright eyes played 04 and 05. Justice played 07 and 08. So did Gogol Bordello. Technically the chemical bros played the first three years in a row. Go study the old lineups a little.
