This. Coachella rarely books repeats so you claiming to expect repeat Hardwell, Knife Party, Dog Blood or Major Lazer sets is highly unrealistic. I could see some of those acts play but no way Avicii or Armin play the main stage and TiŽsto has probably played his last main stage set. With the massive Sahara upgrade, main stage DJs aren't likely to happen anymore.

And to somebody who probably spent most of their time in the Sahara, THAT may have seemed like the main stage but for rest of Coachella it definitely wasn't. I'd say it's the 3rd biggest behind the outdoor and main, hell even at times maybe behind the Mojave with bands like New Order and How to Destroy Angels playing that tent.

I'm actually really interested to see what happens with the Sahara in the years to come. IMO, that kind of EDM scene has already peaked and I don't see it getting much bigger, the only direction I see it going is down. Maybe not necessarily down but possibly get spread out more with such as garage coming on. Sort of like how the internet and making varied musical tastes have killed off the possibilities of huge chart topping bands ala The Rolling Stones, Beatles etc, I could see the same with EDM. The interest won't be huge, it'll just be more spread out and watered down. I'd say the peak of someone like Swedish House Mafia will probably be the most we'll see in a long time.

I agree that progressive house EDM has peaked, but I'm curious to see what you mean by watered down. Usually, watered down typically brings the connotation that the thing in question will be less effective. In this case, "watering down" the sahara would be of the opposite effect. More variety will bring diversity to the tent, and as a result, the people in the tent, theoretically, should be more well rounded.

btw, I see a more diverse undercard this year, but I guarantee that the sahara will have big name DJs closing out each night. Tiesto Skrillex and Deadmau5 sounds about right

I guess watered down wasn't the best term but basically saying that whoever the next big names are might not reach the level that the deadmau5s, Skrillexes and Swedish House Mafias of today have.

Why do people still think of SHM and Hardwell as progressive house?

A bunch of crap djs who dont even mix songs on the spot is the correct answer.
"How long will this last, this delicious feeling of being alive, of having penetrated the veil which hides beauty and the wonders of celestial vistas? It doesn't matter, as there can be nothing but gratitude for even a glimpse of what exists for those who can become open to it."

Want (though not all of these would be in Sahara)

    Clockwork

    2manydjs
    Gessafelstein

The 3 repeats I would want to see would be

    Bassnectar
    Pretty Lights
    Knife Party

but the hour sets they got dont do them any justice at all.

Of all the people that played the Sahara, you want those three? Not my taste in music, but i would only want Eric Prydz back and have C2C in the Mojave later in the day. You should want new artists anyways. Not the same artists at every major Electronic music festival.

im just more into their music than someone like prydz. i loved his set though.

ive seen so many artists and have found a few that always have amazing sets.

    Ghostland Observatory
    Griz
    Big G

would be a few that I would love to see on the polo fields

Unless they have another album coming out soon (they are not), a DJ set will do. They won't do a live show unless they are touring for a new album.

I have seen their DJ set, I didn't enjoy it as much as their live sets i have seen. Not saying they are bad, just seemed odd someone requesting a DJ over live set. Idk, guess thats just the way i feel about live and DJ sets. To each their own.

I don't think anyone is booking Skrillex these days (at least not anyone with any level of respect for EDM). I would expect the 3 nights to be headlined by Deadmau5, Tiesto or AVB, and then Kaskade.

Day of the dead? i dont know how much "respect HARD has for edm." I dont know how a festival portrays that. They booked at masters at work. Mad respect shown there, yo.
Certain songs they get so scratched into our souls

Two of the names you listed definitely aren't playing.

Gary has been part of the LA rave scene since the early 90s, I think he has no problem paying respects to the pioneers IMO. It's more credible than any Insomniac event nowadays.

FFS, the Hard stage at EDC had freakin' Altern-8 for crying out loud!

Won't be the same Armin from Coachella 2005 sadly, more trousey shit nowadays that he plays.

I don't think they will book Avicii. Not after the shit he pulled last Coachella. Kaskade I could see just because he has such a massive following in California. AVB I think is due for another Coachella set.
