Tom Waits/Leonard Cohen back to back on mainstage. I would sort of shit out my entire skeleton.

What's the most that Avicii has drawn at a stateside performance that wasn't a festival? I know his managament tried to bump him to mid level US venues but I can't find any indication of any being close to full.

Let it be known that all 'Arcade Fire ---> David Bowie' scenarios entertained are merely jerkoff status, reserved for the nazis only.

Looking at the May 6 version, you did a good job with the Outkast plausibility. A lot more plausible than I would have expected.

    1. They are on the "Too Soon to make upward jump to headliner" part of the list, which is where I capture acts who haven't been big enough to headline, but someday might.

    2. The list hasn't been updated in several months and doesn't reflect those confirmed as 'out'.

I don't think Tom Waits does festivals. I could be wrong, but I see no booking for him in the traditional festival sense. The same goes for Leonard Cohen. Besides the occasional jazz festival, it doesn't look like he plays traditional spring/summer festivals.

I'd say they don't fit at Coachella, but Nick Cave, Grinderman and Dead Can Dance just played, so anything's possible. However, I feel the maturity of the audience, or lack thereof, really drains the fun out of shows on the main stage. Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, while amazing, had one of the worst audiences I've ever witnessed. RHCP kids flooding the audience, looking around and smiling in bemusement. Totally dead audience who had never heard a single song from Mr. Cave. It nearly ruined the experience for me, but what can you expect at a festival?

Grinderman and Dead Can Dance fared better because they played smaller stages/tents where kids weren't camping out the front to see the closer. Dead Can Dance was wonderful, and the Grinderman crowd was legendary. Grinderman was one of the best shows I've ever witnessed.

I can say that if Tom Waits and Leonard Cohen show up, I would love to see them back to back in a tent, preferably the Gobi, or at the Outdoor stage, staggered to reduce bleedover. They would likely be the MAIN reason I'd go for Coachella 2014, as so far there aren't many strong reasons I'm seeing. Outkast and Arcade Fire aren't very exciting gets.

I thoroughly enjoyed that set. He gave a shot out to Lou Reed.

Thanks for the info. I only looked back at the last few years for Leonard Cohen, but looked back to 1999 for Tom Waits. I stand by my statement for Tom Waits, but Leonard Cohen could be a definite maybe.

If Coachella got both though... I would definitely be up for shitting my entire skeleton.

Yeah, I mean, they just haven't performed together in over a decade when they released Speakerboxxx/The Love Below (you know, that grammy winning Diamond-certified double album they put out?). That'll definitely be a snoozefest.

Eminem will never play at coachella ever again. He came on stage for 1 song with dre and snoop, they literally had to beg him to stay to do another song. He looked like he wanted to kill himself on stage. Left as swiftly as he could. And his performance was complete shit.
