Default Anybody diggin' on the new Andrew Bayer album?

Personally I'm finding "If it Were You, We'd Never Leave" to be one of the most interesting albums to come out this year. Pretty great stuff. Thoughts?

Tell us more about it? I have absolutely no clue what the album is. Sell me on it.

Well, Andrew Bayer is an artist signed to Anjunabeats. He's really really versatile; dabbles in pretty much everything. This album kinda starts out sorta breakbeat/trip-hoppy, but on the super mellow side of that spectrum. And then it sort of develops into a really cinematic and atmospheric score-like production. Strings/winds/piano/etc. But throughout, it carries that kind of mellow, glitchy/trip-hoppy vibe. Super impressed. If you're into a mix between Amon Tobin, Flying Lotus, and the LA Phil, check it out. haha.

There's not many people on the board at all interested in Anjunabeats or Trance at all for that matter.

Well, it's not trance. Nothing about this album is four on floor. That's why I described it in depth for Bmack. Believe it or not, Anjunabeats does sign other types of artists. Not many, but they do. haha.

Explain to me the ways in which he dabbles in: (1) hardcore punk (2) polka (3) bluegrass and (4) tibetan throat singing. I am truly curious.

I appreciate the description. While it doesn't sound up my alley, if you start a thread like this, an in-depth description is super helpful for something we probably wouldn't have heard yet. Sell it, baby.

Bryan, you realize the guy you're talking to lists John Mayer amongst his upcoming shows.

John Mayer is guaranteed to get the dude laid, and at least he's a good guitarist. I mean, reprehensible human being, but he CAN play a mean lead and really understands blues guitar.

Maybe he's just a sucker for the ladies. I always try to assume the best of people in the music lounge.

This is a guy who, when asked to describe an artist's music, responded with "he dabbles in pretty much everything." Everything, Bryan! Imagine that. Everything. wow. how awesome is that?

Man, you're so hostile! lol. Obviously, "everything" was a bit too general. My apologies. I was hesitant to list John Mayer on my upcoming shows (for fear of being flamed on these boards), but I'll just go ahead and admit that while he is a tool, he's a guilty pleasure. As a guitarist, I have to stand by his amazing musicianship. Especially at his live shows. He's pretty damn amazing to watch if you're into guitar work.

Yea, will do next time. Thanks for the tip. haha. I know it was pretty vague. Guess I just assumed people that already knew him would reply to the thread. But I'm always stoked to help recruit new listeners

If you're interested in a mix between two electronic music producers who have no interest whatsoever in having a melody or a beat and then throw an orchestra who don't play their own music, he's your guy.

Post videos bro. Most people, including myself, have never heard who you're talking about.

If it's so great, let the music speak for itself.

lol. It can be inferred from this ignorant comment that your taste is questionable.

If you needed someone to fill the gap in your life that exists between undanceable electronic music and classical, he's your guy.

HEY CONSUMER--are you the kind of douchebag who pretends they're interested in hearing a mix between electronic music and the "LA Phil?"

WELL HEADS UP, NERDS, 'CAUSE SOMEBODY MADE THE EXACT KIND OF PRETENTIOUS BULLSHIT YOU'VE BEEN DYING TO PRETEND YOU ENJOY.

    Do you like Shpongle?

Yea, I figured that out pretty quickly. Saw him post this drivel and also talk shit on Disclosure in another thread. His opinions are no longer valid.

You guys can settle this and listen to the album here. https://soundcloud.com/andrewbayer/s...ed-never-leave

It's really reminiscent of Amon Tobin, Sepalcure, kinda DJ Shadow too. Sufjan Stevens approved samples himself, Ane Brun is on a track.

Anjunabeats is really branching out, cool to see them go on a new project like this.

I personally think his 'It's Artifical' album is his strongpoint. If anyone on this board is into progressive house, this is honestly as good as it gets. It has the experimenal/glitch-hop phases, but I just really think his best work is his progressive stuff...maybe I'm being partial, who knows. My two favorites:

Edit: Debut full-length album (9 songs) released in 2011 on Anjunabeats.
