Violent Femmes the time had changed on the sign in front of the main stage, so I went to the beer garden after drop kick murphys and next thing I know they start playing, I think this confused alot of people and they missed them, at least I did.

The Violent Femmes were still great. Didn't quite make my top 5, but would be in my top 10. I'm sorry to hear some people were confused by the time change - the same thing happened for me with Jamie xx, since the app never updated with his time change.

But worst of weekend was easily Modest Mouse...shocked anyone, even big fans (of which I am one) can put them top 5 - sound at this set was just dreadful...they've never been a terrific live act but this felt like the worst Mainstage show I have ever seen in six years of going other than maybe MIA in '09. But hey, I loved the Roses set cause I love the Roses...so probably some of that going on here.
Idk, I thought Modest Mouse killed it. They have a lot of songs I don't like, but their setlist was spot on. I didn't have any problem with their sound at all, but I was right in front.

I have to agree about Japandroids and Cloud Nothings though. I still had a really good time moshing at both sets, but they just don't sound clean enough live. Also a large part of both their strengths is that their lyrics are among the best in punk rock music, which doesn't make much of a difference in performance.

In a row, these blew my mind:

    Hot Chip
    Simian Mobile Disco
    Franz Ferdinand
    New Order

Of course it helped I was coming on hard, but it was incredible. To make five, add:

    Blur

In no particular order but Janelle Monae's set was a ton of fun! New Order was also better than I was expecting but I left early to catch Sigur Ros. I also have to mention how surprised I was to see The Makeup was playing and ran over to catch their set. Saturday was my favorite day!

    1. Johnny Marr - Every year at Coachella there is an overwhelming moment of bliss that will stick with me forever. This year it was Johnny doing "There is a Light That Never Goes Out." Fucking beautiful. His solo stuff is really good too.

    2. How to Destroy Angels - I knew this set was going to be good, but I didn't know it was going to be THIS good. Awesome visuals, awesome music in a life setting, Trent can do no wrong.

    3. Jake Bugg - Didn't know much about his coming in, but his set blew me away. This kid is going to be a star.

    4. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Anyone who doubted that they could carry a Coachella crowd clearly underestimated the beauty of tens of thousands of people singing "Under the Bridge" at the top of their lungs.

    5. Lumineers - A really fun set with a really enthused crowd. Will definitely be checking these guys out again.

HM: Cloud Nothings (hard to not put them in the top 5), Violent Femmes (ditto - really fun set, wish they could have played later in the day), Grinderman (knew nothing about him coming in, wandered in for the last 15 minutes of his set before HTDA and got my ass kicked; would have probably been top 5 if I had seen his entire set), Of Monsters an Men, Lord Huron (first set of the fest for me, might have been top 5 otherwise), Social Distortion

    1) James Blake: Definitely my stand-out set this weekend. How he pulls together so many different genres and blends them into one cohesive piece of work is phenomenal. Very innovative music.

    2) Postal Service: Flood of memories. High-school me would have been proud that 25-year old me caught this.

    3) The Shouting Matches: Straight up whiskey-soaked set. Great seeing Justin Vernon up-close do his thing.

    4) TNGHT: Dance, dance, dance.

    5) The Lumineers: Feel-good set. These guys just seem so genuine and earnest in their performances. So much more in their arsenal than "Ho Hey."

6-11 in no particular order: Shovels & Rope, Jessie Ware, Sigur Ros, Tegan and Sara, OMD, Savages.

    Omd - still bringing it
Foals - musical genius. Give it a few years
Hot chip - it's all been said
Vampire weekend - great at sunset time slot
    Yeah yeah yeah. Love her

Bad: new order , Bernard mailing it in

Red Hot Chili Peppers- I had heard the performance was lackluster W1 but holy damn did they show up for W2... Hearing Sir Psycho Sexy was one of the greatest surprises and experiences I had all weekend.
Jurassic 5- Fantastic energy and Cut Chemis and Numark were amazing
Wolfgang Gartner- Greatest EDM performance of the weekend
Alex Clare- This guys voice is just ridiculous
Franz Ferdinand- Nobody matches the energy and excitement of this group and they were killer

HM- Pretty Lights, Postal Service, Modest Mouse, Excision, and Passion Pit

For all the shit the Chili Peppers took on these boards when they were announced headliner, they sure are getting a lot votes in the top 5.

I heard Rodriguez' week1 set was pretty bad, and he's gotten a couple votes too. Curious how he was wk2.
