I really want to make this work, though. I'm already considering sacrificing the first couple days of LiB (Thursday and Friday) and working during the day and festing at night since it's my hometown festival and I can . if I do that, I think I can manage a quick turn and burn to Austin for weekend 2.

so, passes are expected to sell out near instantly? is it probably best to pick up a pass and hope for the best if I'm leaning towards going? decisions, decisions. guess I'll see you all in the waiting room.
    passes are on sale now.

edit: here are the links to both sales.

Well, that made my decision easier as I won't be able to buy passes now or even in the next couple weeks. I am starting to hate my car payment, even though I love my car.

    October should be beautiful.

But be aware Audra.. ACL feels even more crowded than Coachella. Plus there's lawn chairs.

Are the bands all playing the same days on each weekend like Coachella?

Becca said the exact same thing. Way more crowded, lawn chairs are unbelievably annoying, and there was so much dirt and dust that she had to wear surgical masks.

That being said, Depeche Mode AND the Cure? Damn. We won't be able to go because we're already committed to Bestival, but geez.

I'm out. Between flights and getting hotel and passes we can't justify it. Still paying off some Coachella debt and with the board girls trip in September that's even more $ out the window. I'd rather get caught up and be ready for Coachella next year. But to those that got passes, have a great time!!

i dont remember any lawn chairs last year, i think they might have banned them. and it was beautifully green, no dust.

I just found a flight for $275. it leaves 45 minutes after I usually get off work, so that means 1 less vacation day to take off and about $200 less than I was budgeting for flights. the only snags are that it doesn't get in until 12:30am thursday night and arrives in San Antonio.

I didn't do ACL last year (first time I'd skipped it since '06), so I can't confidently say things haven't changed, but...the dirt and dust levels at ACL have never been as bad as a typical day at Coachella. I wear a surgical mask walking to/from parking at Coachella, and have never felt the need for one at ACL.

The crowding is worse. And the lawn chairs (and the mouthbreathers that occupy them) are my most hated part of ACL.

Having said all of that, just purchased my weekend 1 pass.

Hah. Even in 2011 when there was a burn ban due to extreme drought and wildfires, the fest was filled with smoke. Just make sure you dispose of your remains properly and all is well.

I really pegged Mumford and Sons as being one of the headliners. So glad I was wrong.

thats pretty much it. i think they're thinking that since the fest skews older that's what needed to be the focus of the lineup to try and sell 2 weekends. aside from kaskade there's not much to appeal to the "sahara crowd".
