In Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, the Wright brothers have achieved the impossible: manned and controlled flight in a heavier-than-air craft operating under its own power.

did anyone register their wristband and scan in at the fest? I thought it was supposed to post to facebook but I never saw anything. I scanned periodically because I was hoping to win some merch or a ticket upgrade but it seemed like we scanned in for nothing. at Outside Lands a bunch of people won merch and stuff, but no one that I spoke to at ACL had any success.

Thank God. I could've saved myself a lot of headache this year if they had single day tickets.

the only time I saw a line at them was the one in the Austin Eats area. I waited in that line while my boyfriend grabbed us something to eat and when I got to the front and scanned, the thing was broken. so we all stood in line for a broken scanner

all of the others I used as I walked past them.

Really wish I'd signed on to the boards to check this thread because we ended up making the trek out from SF for Week2. Overall I had a fucking blast. The venue is absolutely perfect for a music festival. I've been to four Outside Lands and was much happier at Zilker than Golden Gate Park. Zilker is big enough to create separation but not too big to stage hop, which at GGP is a huge pain in the ass. Logistics for ACL were also really well done. Never waited for food, beer, or bathrooms all weekend. Also, the fact that the middle stages (Austin Ventures and Bud Light) had strong lineups (QOTSA, Jake Bugg, Purity Ring, etc) made the crowds very manageable. Would also like to say that ACL was by far the most friendly festival I've been to. The people were great, not drugged out of their minds, and the chairs made it family friendly and therefore not a clusterfuck up front.

Only gripe would be the flags. Why they let one guy with a poll block hundreds of people behind them is beyond me. They need to get rid of that shit.

    Top Sets (No Order)

The Cure: Everything I expected and more. Left after Picture of You to head back to our place and get ready for the Franz Ferdinand after-show and missed all of the rain. They sounded incredible.

Arctic Monkeys: New album sounded better than expected and the old hits went off. First time seeing them and I really hope they get booked for Coachella next year.

Walk the Moon: Played much bigger than they sound on the album. Sucks that they were against HAIM so they crowd was smaller than expected but they put on one hell of a show.

    Honorable Mention:
Purity Ring: The sound went out 5min into their set (it started raining) but they restarted quickly. Them + the rain was oddly awesome.

The Bands i Saw: (* = Partial...was with a group of three girls)
Friday: Jimmy Eat World - Electric Six* - fun. - Local Natives* - Jake Bugg - Arctic Monkeys - Queens of the Stone Age* - Purity Ring - Depeche Mode* - MUSE*
Saturday: Walk the Moon - Delta Rae* - Lissie* - Portugal. The Man* - Silversun Pickups* - Passion Pit - The Cure

Overall I was really impressed and would come back in a heartbeat if the 2014 lineup is on par with this years.

Franz was INCREDIBLE. Emo's was big enough to go off without being a clusterfuck. The sound was also spectacular. Enjoyed Frankie Rose however the Smith Westerns sucked ass.

How was jake bugg electrojan? Almost went to see him but the person I was with is a huge vampire weekend fan.

edit: The Smith Westerns really do suck ass. Probably the worst live band I've ever seen. Or maybe I just don't like their kind of music. Who knows

I'm not sure what kind of flags people brought to W2, but I was fine with them W1. I actually liked them. There were a lot of creative ones, and if there was a pole in my way, I would just move over 3 inches. The flags also made it easy to find people in the crowd.

Is anyone else gonna try for the souvenir passes? I got very close two years ago...

I wasn't crazy about the flags, but they didn't really block my view too often. thankfully they seem to stay in the chair zone for the most part so that I can just ignore them.

here's my favorite picture of the cure that I took from the weekend.

Jake Bugg was great. Tons of talent for only being 19 and the crowd was super into the set. Really looking forward to his new album next month.

I don't even bother trying to get souvenir passes anymore. I had tickets in my cart before only to be told they're sold out when I got to the checkout page.

I most likely would have flown out to Austin again if I ended up with souvenir passes, now I'm not so sure.
Maybe I'll try for FFF next year, or Voodoo Fest.

I was thinking the same thing. getting those souvenir passes could have made ACL cheaper than going back to OSL next year even with airfare and AirBnB if I got the same deals I got this year.

I missed it by literally 1 minute. I think they sell out in seconds. However, I never got a notification like they said I would, and apparently I wasn't the only one. Oh well.

FFF is super cheap if you do the super early bird tickets a year in advance in December. I think i paid $120 for 3 day passes.

It's just a matter of committing to it. $120 isn't a bad price, though. I actually have Veteran's Day off next year, so if the fest falls around the same time, I can turn this into a super long weekend.

Sure, but you could probably sell it pretty easily if you needed to considering it goes up to $180 later

Wow so it looks like all 3 day passes will be going on sale next week, and the only tickets that will be available in the spring are single days... From the email:

"Tuesday, October 29: Starting at 10AM CST, you'll have the chance to purchase General Admission 3-Day Passes at the Early Bird Price of $200, while supplies last. Once Early Bird Passes sell out, $225 Regular Price Passes will immediately become available. Limit of four (4) Passes per person per weekend. VIP & Platinum Passes and Official Travel Packages will also be available during the E-list Pre-Sale. And back by popular demand, a very limited number of Single-Day Passes will be available in Spring 2014!"

    That sucks.

I read that as "Single-Day Passes will be available in Spring 2014!"
Not "ONLY Single-Day Passes will be available in Spring 2014, so you're screwed if you don't get a 3-day pass before Spring hits!"

Well if 3 day passes sell out before the year is out, you are technically screwed to only get single day passes. Am I wrong?

That's what it sounds like, but judging from this year, weekend 2 selling out isn't going to be much of a problem

Nor is W1. It took a few hours to sell out W1 and that was with the lineup just out. I definitely see a lot of people holding off till the line up is dropped.

anyone get word from Frontgate on Weekend 2 refunds? I told the guy on ebay that I was cool with waiting til he got his refund, BUT that I couldn't wait any longer than November 11th since that is the timeframe that ebay has set to work out any issues. If I go past that date, I have no recourse thru ebay.

Is there any action you can take via PayPal? I know PayPal has the "escalation" period.
