I'd like to go just one time where there wasn't any rain. Oh well, it'll keep things nice and cool. btw, the park get's absolutely disgustingly covered in mud when it rains during ACL so just a heads up you might want to keep your phone in a ziplock bag.

So my work has a few extra spots left (from 25) for a couple of VIP parties with Do512 at a mansion on Friday and Saturday. If you RSVP in the app (iPhone only right now, sorry Android users!), go in the chat for this and say something like amandabomb sent you there and it's pretty much guaranteed entry. Here's a link with more details.

Wish I was going but, alas, I'm stuck on the West Coast!

I've never been to one that was muddy.... '10 and '11 are the only ones I've been to and it rained a little both years but not nearly enough to change park conditions. so this should definitely be interesting

W2 officially sold out. Only took 2 days before the festival. Wonder if that'll affect next years dates.

QotSA knocked it out of the park tonight and made me miss the beginning of Depeche Mode because I physically couldn't leave. /notsurprised

fun. was cool, although I think it was more or less the same set from Outside Lands 2012. Savages, Arctic Monkeys, and Muse were all more or less as expected, although AM played more slowish tracks than I'm accustomed to. Still a killer live act, though.

I expected to like Depeche Mode more after having seen them a little over a decade ago and being blown away - it may be they're older, it may be that I had really great seats to that show. Hard to say.

hanging out in the pouring down rain while watching QotSA destroy the Bud Light stage was incredible! Muse put on a good show. Even though I'm not a big fan of 2nd Law, it plays well live. glad there were no generator problems this weekend!

wish I could have seen DM for the 8th time, but I'll just have to catch them next time,

Yeah, the rain at QotSA made it fairly epic. It was enough rain to make the lighting and the tone of the show more sinister, but not enough that we were soaking wet with dead phones and cameras. Well done, God.

I guess I should mention that I am a little under-impressed with Austin City Limits as a whole. As a big Lollapalooza fan, I thought it would be a more sprawling affair, with more trees and art and the stages not all on top of each other Coachella-style. While it's not great to make the 15-minute trek from one stage to another in Grant Park, the spread-out nature of the fest (and the vast number of trees and such) and the fact that it's right in the middle of Chicago make the setting kind of awesome. Lollapalooza and Outside Lands are my two favorite outdoor festival settings, and I was hoping for something more akin to those here. And the electronic presence is basically non-existent, even compared to Lollapalooza... that surprised me.

Of course I'll be back next year as its basically a local festival for me, but I don't think I'd fly in as a destination festival the way many do unless I was just in love with Austin.

Got in late so only caught Black Angels > Arctic Monkeys, about 10 minutes of Jon Spencer Blues Explosion while waiting in the bathroom line, heard QOTSA and Kaskade as I walked to DM. Heard muse on the walk out and saw Savages @ Parrish.

Downtown Austin looks very daterapey around 1:30-2am as all the drunks are spilling out of the bars. I can't imagine SXSW.
