Can anyone please report on the Tame Impala show? I'm dying to know.

Caught a little bit of Tame Impala. Unfortunately, the sound wasn't so great where I was standing, so I can't really comment on their set.

Neko Case into Lionel Richie was definitely a beautiful ending to my vacation.

While I enjoyed their Coachella set in 2011, they're generally pretty mediocre live apparently. Still, I'm sad they opened for the National's aftershow in Dallas instead of Austin's.

    EDIT*

I really hope I get drawn for Neko's ACL Live taping. Love her newest album.

They already announced the winners on Thursday for Neko's taping, I was fortunate enough to win.

Tame Impala sounded great actually. I was near the back of the crowd in order to secure a spot for Thom, but they sounded great and the crowd was into it. The bass was loud, as it should be.

Huh, weird. They usually announce winners two days prior to the taping. Oh well.

Glad to hear Tame Impala sounded good.

Glad to know there are as many audiophiles as we do. Sound is indeed important... But, any notes on content? I like that the bass was up- Yes, it should be. Any Flaming Lips songs, jams, noteworthy observations?

Standard fare. They've been playing sort of the same setlist rearranged, Apocalypse Dreams was last and was 12 minutes. Crowd were super into it as well. Plenty of crowd surfing and headbanging. Very male centric crowd and may have had a bigger crowd than Atoms for Peace.

Thank you. These are things I like to know. SO excited to drive 7 hours to Boulder to see them, or fly out to LA for it. Whichever has more pals/feasible. A 12 minute Apocalypse Dream is indeed a factor- and being a lady on the prowl these days ahahah, so is a male-centric crowd to headbang with. Or just bang with.

I heard Grouplove in the background, not my thing, but they were okay. I was really surprised how great Divine Fits sounded. They've improved from when I saw them on their first tour last year, their covers of Frank Ocean's "Lost" and Tom Petty's "You Got Lucky" were a welcome addition. The National seem incapable of having a bad show. Matt was probably tired from the night before, but they were still great. As I mentioned above, Tame Impala were wonderful. Atoms for Peace may have been my favorite ACL headliner ever (I've been attending this festival since 2005), and despite only liking them a bit on the album, they are a force live, probably more entertaining and raucous than Radiohead last year. Would've like to have seen Toro Y Moi and Franz Ferdinand, but they were on the other side of the park. Neko Case is awesome, I didn't see her, but I'll be seeing her tomorrow for the ACL taping which I'm excited for.

As for getting downtown from the airport, a cab ride will suffice, really depends on what time you get there, as long as it's not during rush hour. As for dining, choose from any restaurant really. I live in San Antonio, but honestly, any recommendation or place you see is likely to be good. The foodtrucks are good if that's your thing. I love Austin Daily Press for sandwiches off Red River. Hoboken Pie has my favorite pizza in the city.

My friend took me to 2 food trucks during my stay this past weekend. First one was ChiLantro. It's a Korean-Mexican fusion truck. Sooooooo good after a night of drinking. The other one is East Side King, which is an Asian fusion truck. I highly recommend the chicken buns. It's located in the back patio of Liberty Bar. The bar itself was cool, too. It was a nice place to hang out and unwind after the festival.

I kinda regret not trying their kimchi fries. There's also a stand at ACL that sells kimchi fries that I also neglected to try.

I'm not going to the fest, but I'll be at the Savages aftershow. Jorge and I were planning on meeting somewhere beforehand I think. I assume all of you are staying near 6th/downtown?

Savages tickets have been PLURchased. Sounds like the Parish and a pre-show beer will be our meetup spot if we don't see each other during the fest (cept you Gribbz...shaking head emoticon)

Ha, blame the aftershows. More or less all of the bands I wanted to see are doing/have done them. Also, it's a pain in the ass getting to and from Zilker Park. Not sure if y'all will have time to meet before the show on Friday.

I highly recommend the free shuttle service. There was no wait to and from the park.
