The following is not crazy by any means. It was just really funny to me at the time. At the beginning of the weekend, my friends and I soon realized that it would be nearly impossible to not lose each other in the festival. We wanted to come up with some sort of signal or call to help us avoid getting separated. Somehow, in our inebriated states, this call became, "BUTT SCRATCHER!" taken from Family Guy (see video below for reference.) On Saturday night, our group planned on meeting up for Tiesto, so we could go into the crowd together. We met up at the crane, as planned. However, while walking into the crowd, a lot of us lost each other. After searching for them with no luck, I went to my trusty call, "BUTT SCRATCHER!" The guy in front of me instantly turned around and returned the call with the biggest smile on his face. However, his exuberance quickly turned to disappointment. Apparently, he thought it was one of his friends who said it. Turns out, it was his group's signal to find each other, as well. We both shared a good laugh about it. Now, whenever Im at any festival/massive/sporting event, I always yell "BUTT SCRATCHER!" in hopes that somebody will return the call.

i absolutely adore coachella (a five-year vet and board newbie), and amazing as all of these stories are, try T in the Park or Benacassim - incredible stories there. Wild cultures scottish and spanish/gypsy - highly recommended.

I've got one. Can't believe I didn't post it before. During Duran Duran, my buddy, my gf and I were sitting on the grass back a ways, enjoying the show. Someone had given us a few glowsticks, so we just had them sitting in front of us, no big deal. We see a young-ish looking girl start to approach us, probably no more than 18. She was wearing nothing except a tiny skirt and stars covering her nips, and some indian feathers in her hair, and was obviously tripping pretty hard on something. All of a sudden, she runs up to us, grabs a glowstick, puts it in her mouth, growls at us pretty fiercely and just books it. We just sat there laughing about it for a good couple of minutes. During the course of the show, numerous e-tards approached us asking for a glowstick. We obliged, every time, and each time we said "sure, take one, I dont care", the looks on their faces were like giving a child a second christmas.

But Coachella 2010 right after Gorillaz finished, everyone was walking out in a really somber hushed kind of way. It was eerily quiet from other times I can remember...

So as we're meandering towards the exit music starts to reach my ears from the glass organ. Some young kid, couldn't have been older than 14 was playing a beatles song... and FML I can't remember which one now... it might have been All you need is love or maybe something else... Can't believe I forgot.

But it was just pretty epic for me and my crew to hear this. When he finished I started yelling as loud as I could:

"YOU WIN KID, YOU JUST FUCKING WON COACHELLA! YOU DIDN'T EVEN KNOW IT BUT YOU JUST WON!!!!"

i was actually behind this guy in line waiting for the organ. his friends were really obnoxious and shoved him to the front of the line. but then when he started playing, i realized why. that was one of my most favourite moments of coachella ever. it was let it be. he was fantastic. he was getting down while he played too, so fun to watch. the whole crowd was singing along. it was beautiful. your post is one of the reasons i love this board, it's so cool that you saw that.

then i got up to play and completely botched toccata & fugue and then the imperial march. who could follow that guy... especially while i was tripping :x

I've met people that I told this story to, and they reply "THAT WAS YOU????" in relation to me screaming "YOU WIN COACHELLA!" that always puts a smile on my face.

And I agree, that was also one of my favorite moments ever. My favorite end to all the coachellas I've been to in fact.

Yeah. That was nuts. I swore he was going drop right on his head. The dome didn't do Beardyman justice. Sound was messed up in the back anyways.

I saw some pretty wild shit during NIN in '05. Because it was NIN, there were obviously going to be people moshing, but most of the crowd was having none of it and getting the hell away from the moshers. So this large group of us had moved away from the mosh pit, hoping to enjoy NIN without getting hit, and suddenly this HUGE guy (he's seriously like 6'5" 275 pounds and could've easily been a college football player, not just fat, but strong too) tries to start his own mosh pit. No one is having any of it, but he's not getting the hint and just keeps pushing girls over and elbowing everyone in sight. At this point, people are getting pissed, but because this guy is so big and scary, no one is doing anything about it and just trying to get as far away from him as possible. Finally, things are coming to a boiling point, and this little guy (probably 5'8", 140 pounds) is clearly angry and wants to do something. So the next time a mosh pit starts up, he runs up and just tackles the guy, very impressive given the size difference. Still, the guy won't back off, so the little guy runs and tackles him again, and this time goes nuts. He probably hit the big dude in the face like 15-20 times, and finally we think it's over. But no! After being down for a minute or so, the big dude gets back up, face covered in blood, and screams and starts spitting blood all over the place, and tries to start another mosh pit. I think the adrenaline then started to wear off though, cause he fell back down after about a minute and then got up and slinked off out of the crowd. That shit was scary, I think he was on some fucking PCP or meth or something wild.

This is old, but damn, that's a great story!

When I went in 2010 my neighbor and I bumped into a guy dressed like the cop from the village but with cut off cop shorts. I guess he was tripping sack when he ran into us because all he kept yelling was he won the lotto and he continued to rip his wallet in half and make it rain on us hoes. We made out with like 83 bucks and went to buy molly like 20 mins later.
